Is This the NBA or Big Time Wrestling?

Zach P.Feb 9, 2009

The Cleveland Cavaliers vs. The Los Angeles Lakers, Pt. 2

Hello everyone, first I'd like to take a second and introduce myself to this page. My name is Zach and I'm from Stow. There was my second.

The Stage was set. This was the Cavs' chance to really prove something to the League. It was their chance to shine. This game had been pumped up and elevated to a game with near-playoff stature.

The first half of the game was what one could expect. Great team play from both sides; although there was not a lot of star power present, it played out well. Cavs up, 62-52, at halftime.

This is where my beef comes in as a fan. Sitting on the edge of my couch. Screaming at the officiating and blatant missed shots. This game reminded me of something else I had seen...oh, I remember now...Big Time Wrestling. An interview a year ago with Rasheed Wallace helped paint that picture.

He said something like "It's just like Big Time Wrestling" and "the refs control the game."

We all know the "refs" control the game, but this was just insane to watch.

Now I know that I might get yelled at and critiqued for saying that, but let's be honest. Since Andrew Bynum's injury, the Lakers have lost a lot of inside presence and defense.

Then someone explain to me how a team can play well and score 62 points in the first half. LeBron only scoring four, of course (coincidence?). Then that team only scores 30 more the rest of the game?

The hype was there, the fans had waited...Why not give the NBA a little spin and have the Cavs lose at home? Spice up the rating a little. It did not even occur to me that this could happen until the ball rolled of Pau Gasol's leg late in the third quarter, yet...Laker ball?

The picture started becoming a little clearer. Stagnant Cavaliers letting the lethargic Lamar Odom get every rebound? LeBron James missing easy layups (well, easy for him) to the bucket? Ben Wallace missing two dunks from point blank?

Is this the NBA or is it the WWE? Are we watching LeBron James or Kobe Bryant, or are we watching Sting and the Undertaker? You be the Judge.
