Fans lucky enough to get tickets for the upcoming clash between world heavyweights Argentina and Brazil are in for a treat. These two elite squads will provide plenty of exciting action in their upcoming friendly match at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
According to FIFA.com, Brazil is the No. 5-ranked team in the world, while Argentina is ranked at No. 7. Both teams feature some of the world's best players at their positions, and they will surely put on a show as they tune up for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Even though this is an exhibition match, there isn't a chance in hell we'll see anything less than 100 percent from these competitive teams. They are longtime rivals, and the players won't be holding anything back.
Argentina features the best player in the world, captain Lionel Messi. The season he had for Barcelona in La Liga was otherworldly, as he hit 50 goals in 37 games. He has earned the respect of Argentina legend Diego Maradona, who says "he earned the captaincy by virtue of his play," according to Goal.com.
Brazil's centre-back Bruno Uvini has an immense amount of respect for Messi, but he knows Argentina possesses other players who can hurt Brazil just as bad, according to the Buenos Aires Herald: "Argentina are not only Messi. They also have [Sergio] Aguero, [Ángel] Di María, [Gonzalo] Higuaín. We cannot think only of Messi, we have to respect Argentina as a whole."
Who wins?
As for Brazil, they are certainly not devoid of talent. Kaka, Luis Fabiano, Dani Alves and Maicon will be ready to put up a valiant effort against the attacking offense of Argentina.
In the end, it matters not who wins this friendly game. Both teams will be strong contenders at both the 2012 Summer Olympic games and the 2014 World Cup. That being said, I'm picking Argentina to outscore Brazil today and come away with a victory over their rivals in what will be a fun game to watch between these two elite teams.
