The Top 20 Active Pro Wrestlers

20. Homicide

With a cult following from his time in Ring of Honor, Homicide has exploded on to the TNA scene.  Homicide is the key feature in TNA's best tag team right now, in LAX.

If TNA had some business sense, they'd let Homicide make a run at their much lacking world title.

19. Brian Danielson

"The greatest wrestler alive" certainly fits his tag line.  Danielson is one of only 10 men who can claim they've won Ring of Honor's World title.  Other big names that have won the title include Samoa Joe, Homicide, and CM Punk.

Danielson has won various awards, including Match of the Year in 2007 vs Takeshi Morishima.

18. Beth Phoenix

"The Glamazon" is the only woman to make my top 20 list.  She has been such a key of WWE's women's division.  She is the best all-around Woman's wrestler the WWE has seen since Trish Stratus retired.

Phoenix was ranked the second best woman's wrestler in 2008 by PWI.

17.  John Morrison

John Morrison has single-handedly proven why Tough Enough was worth WWE's time and money.  When he won Tough Enough the WWE had struck gold, and they knew it. Morrison is the only Tough Enough winner to  still be under contract for the WWE.

Morrison carried the WWECW through one of the darkest times in Pro Wrestling history, and the company is forever indebted to him for that.  If nothing completely disastrous happens, you can count on "The next Shawn Michaels" main eventing for a long time to come.

The 29-year-old has one of the brightest futures in the WWE.   He also has the third coolest entrance ever.  (Behind Melina's and Stacy Keibler's)

If you haven't seen it, you need to watch Wrestlemania 24's Money in the Bank.  John Morrison puts on a clinic for extreme wrestling.  They need to let him go extreme more often *hint*

16. Rey Mysterio Jr.

Mysterio is one of the very few active wrestlers who can claim they've wrestled in ECW, WCW and WWE.

Mysterio was a huge part of ECW and WCW's Cruiserweight revolution.  Afterwards Rey Mysterio went on to mid-card success before the death of Eddie Guerrero.  In 2006, he won the Royal Rumble and went on to win the World title in the main event of Wrestlemania 22.

15. CM Punk

CM Punk was sprung into the main-stream in 2006, and I for one have been hooked. Punk had a huge following from his time in Ring of Honor, and he's certainly expanded it.

In just three short years, Punk has won the ECW title, the World Tag Team titles, the Intercontinental Title, and the World title.

C.M. Punk wrestled a five-star match against Samoa Joe in 2004.  If you haven't seen it, try to.

14. John Cena

The face of the WWE comes on the list at No. 14.  You're either thinking "Why so low?" or "He's one of those Cena haters"

I don't hate John Cena.  He's a great asset for the WWE and a great champion.  He just isn't as impressive in the ring as some other guys.

13. A. J. Styles

A.J. Styles wrestled briefly in WCW before it was bought out by Vince McMahon.

After that purchase, A.J. went back to NWA Wildside, and eventually found his way to TNA.

A.J. has held the X-division title more times than anyone (6), and he's also won the NWA World title three times.

12. Matt Hardy

Matt Hardy has spent almost 10 years in the WWE, and is one their most senior performers.

The recently turned Hardy is bound to have a huge year in 2009.

Hardy has won eight different titles in his stay with the WWE, and is most notably an eight-time tag team champion.

11. Mr. Kennedy

The injury-prone star could easily have been a two time world champion already.  He won Money in the Bank and it looked like he was going to win the world title then, but he got hurt.

Kennedy is won of the most charismatic stars in the WWE and still is touted as one of it's biggest future stars.  His skill on the mic is amazing for such a young, inexperienced superstar.

Kennedy never got a chance on Smackdown!, so expect him to move over to Raw or maybe even ECW if they want him to continue progress.

10. Randy Orton

Randy Orton is in the midst of the biggest push in his entire career.  His punt on Vince McMahon begins a feud where the entire McMahon family are faces (as of right now) against Orton and his Legacy group.

Orton won the 2009 Royal Rumble match, and also retained the WWE title at Wrestlemania 24 last year.

9. Sting

If you don't count Ric Flair, there was no one more important to WCW's success than Sting.  Sting has went from black and white to red and black and back again.

Sting won the world time ten times his his Hall of fame career, and he is the current TNA Champion.

8. Edge

Adam Copeland's place in Pro Wrestling history is not only solidified, but it's rising. Edge was a part of one of the WWE's most decorated tag teams, in Edge and Christian.

Edge is a 12 time tag team champion, and a seven time world champion.

He has won Money in the Bank, and the King of the Ring.

His spear off a 20 foot ladder will forever be remembered, and will be associated with the Attitude era.  His TLC contributions are some of the best examples of Tag Team wrestling at its finest.

7. Jeff Hardy

Defined by his face paint and his reckless mentality; Jeff Hardy is revolutionizing the business.  Hardy has had trouble with drugs, but he is trying to make himself a better person.

Everyone remembers his Swanton bomb from 30 feet.  Jeff Hardy is madly over with the fans right now, and is finally on the right track.  2009 will be the year of Jeff Hardy.

6. Christian Cage

No one's name is hotter than Christian Cage's right now, and he hasn't been seen in about three months.  Cage is the subject of many Internet rumors and I for one can't wait to see what's going to happen.

Cage wasn't a huge star in WWE but was a part of the TLC matches.  Cage grabbed the belt in both the original two TLC's.

Christian Cage went to TNA and won the NWA world title, twice, and solidified himself as a "big name"

"The Instant Classic"  is on his way to a big future in the company that started his career.

5. Kurt Angle

The gold medal winner is among the all time greats.  Although he isn't being booked right in TNA, he is still the company's main guy.

Kurt has won match of the year two times and the feud of the year three times.  He has won the most hated superstar and also the most liked.  He has won more titles then I care to name.

4. The Undertaker

One of the best gimmicks of all time, The Undertaker will ultimately go down in history as one of the greatest ever.  His in-ring skill right now isn't what it used to be, but he still can put on a hell of a show.

Among other contributions, Mark Calaway has given us the Hell in a Cell, which is place of many of the Attitude era's biggest moments.

The Undertaker has done things I've never seen a big man do, for example, his over the top rope suicide dive.

3. Triple H

No one commands a crowd like The Game, and no one has the impact on a promotion that he does.  Triple H can play face well, but is an amazing heel.

Triple H has had some outstanding matches in his career.  His last man standing match against Mick Foley was amazing, as was the Hell in the Cell that followed.  He had a superb triple threat match at Wrestlemania 20, and can still be the main event.

2. Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho is the best heel the WWE had right now.  He can do anything.

If you need a segment, give him the mic.
If you need a main event, give him the spot.
If you need ratings, Give him the show.

Jericho's push was recently sidetracked because the WWE feels it needs to push Orton. Chris Jericho won the World title twice last year, and could easily be named the WWE"s MVP of 2008.

1. Shawn Michaels

In 1998 we as wrestling fans were saddened by the retirement of Shawn Michaels.  He had for long been the staple of the company, but was forced to step away when he was challenged with worsening back injuries.

In 2002 we were so happy to see him come back.  No one knew if he still had it, and guess what.  He did.

He has won nine match of the year awards, and four world titles.

Shawn Michaels is the best thing going right now.
