Liverpool has reportedly sold veteran forward Dirk Kuyt to Turkish club Fenerbahce, according to the Mirror, ending his six-year tenure at Anfield.

Kuyt spoke about his decision to join Fenerbahce and reflected on his Liverpool career in an interview found on the Reds' official web site.

"It was a very difficult decision. I had six wonderful years at the club and it was a great honour for me to play for Liverpool Football Club, work with the great players and play in front of those wonderful supporters. After six years I have made a decision to go for another experience and that's why I made the choice to go to Fenerbahce."

The Dutchman also took to his twitter account to thank his Liverpool teammates and fans for there support during his six years at the club.

He also expressed his excitement over joining Fenerbahce for next season.

The departure of Kuyt will be a tough loss for the fans, many of whom admired him for the strong work ethic and attacking quality he gave the team.

He was arguably the hardest working player at the club for much of his tenure.

Kuyt started 22 league games for Liverpool this season, but his best moments of the 2011-12 season happened during cup competitions.

He scored in extra time of the Carling Cup final against Cardiff City, which Liverpool won in a penalty shootout.

It was the only trophy of Kuyt's Liverpool career.

Kuyt also scored the game-winner in the team's 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Liverpool lost to Chelsea in the FA Cup final last month.

Kuyt still has the quality needed to make an impact in club football at 31-years old, and should be a fine player for Fenerbache in the next chapter of his career.

Liverpool fans will always remember Kuyt as a player who gave his all for the club and accepted whatever role the manager asked him to play.

Rogers has a big summer ahead of him. The club needs to bring in more attacking players that can address the Reds' scoring issues from last season.

Kuyt will have to be replaced for the club to improve next season.
