Arsenal Transfer News: Tracking Latest Rumours, Updates

Peter WebsterJun 6, 2018

After a topsy-turvy roller-coaster-ride-of-a season for Arsenal, Arsene Wenger finds himself fighting to keep some top players at the club whilst simultaneously preparing to bring Arsenal their first trophy in over seven years.

Who says management is easy?

With some predictable—if not annoyingly repetitive—rumours still being banded around, here is the latest news, rumours and updates regarding the transfer situation at Arsenal.

Robin van Persie

1 of 7

There is still no definitive answer on whether Robin van Persie will be a Gunner next season, as the tabloid's (including Mirror Football) promote Manchester City as a favourite destination for the Dutchman.

With his contract set to expire next summer, Arsene Wenger now knows that a guarantee of silverware might be the only way to get his star striker to sign a new deal. Unfortunately, silverware isn't a guarantee for any team, no matter how good your squad.

Fernando Llorente

Arsenal could attempt to add to their already impressive acquisition of Lukas Podolski by signing Fernando Llorente from Athletic Bilbao.

The tall, Spanish striker has only one year remaining on his current contract, which could help Arsene Wenger negotiate a lower fee for the player. However, the Daily Mail is reporting that fee will still be in the region of £28 million.

Nick Powell

Arsene Wenger is also reported to be chasing Crewe Alexandra forward Nick Powell, who is valued at £10 million.

According to the report by the Mail Online, Chelsea are also in the running for the 18-year-old's signature.

Lucas Biglia

According to Sky Sports, there are still no further developments since Lucas Biglia declared last month that Arsenal had been in contact with his agent.

Having seemingly given up on Yann M'Vila, Biglia is seen as the next-best thing in terms of ability and price.

Biglia currently plies his trade at Anderlecht and is 26 years old.

Seydou Doumbia

5 of 7

Arsenal could miss out on the signature of Seydou Doumbia (via Metro) after it emerged that the Ivory Coast striker's agent suggested the player would find a move to Napoli attractive.

With Doumbia—currently playing for CSKA Moscow—believed to be available for approximately £15 million, Wenger will have to move quickly to sway the player's mind.

Younes Belhanda

6 of 7

If Gunners fans thought that Younes Belhanda was a promising option, they may yet again be disappointed with the latest information provided by talkSPORT.

The English radio show has declared that Manchester City have been given a hands-off warning after Montpellier declared they would not be selling.

With Arsenal and Chelsea also favouring the Moroccan international, it seems the 22-year-old could be staying in France for the foreseeable future.

Theo Walcott

7 of 7

Perhaps worryingly for Arsenal fans (and perhaps not, depending on how you see it) was that Theo Walcott was thought to have agreed to a deal to sign for Liverpool (via ArsenalNews.co.uk)—prior to the sacking of Kenny Dalglish.

With the demise of the Kop idol's job, came the end of the alleged deal—apparently.

It really seems to be pure gossip, as no credible source can be found, but Walcott is still yet to sign a new deal with the club, preferring to wait until after Euro 2012 for discussions to take place.
