WWE: Who Deserves to Be a World Champion First? Cody Rhodes or Dolph Ziggler?

Since late 2010, both Dolph Ziggler and Cody Rhodes have been dubbed, "Future world champions." Well, fast forward to 2012 and we are still wondering when these two talented superstars will become world champions.

Wrestling fans have been behind both men because of their talent in the ring and their ability on the microphone each week. With all of the talent needed to become a champion, fans are beginning to ask the question, which superstar will become a world champion first?

Why Dolph Ziggler Should be World Champion Before Cody Rhodes

The showoff has been in plenty of world title matches, and heck, he was looking to be champion back in 2011 in a storyline against Edge. The WWE has on their records, according to their website (www.wwe.com), that Dolph is a former world champion, but for fans who have watched the product every week, we know that isn't the case, as he never officially pinned Edge to win the title. So in my opinion, Dolph has not been a world champion, but he deserves a run at the title before Cody Rhodes.

Dolph Ziggler has had many classic matches since his debut in 2008 with some top talent like Rey Mysterio, Edge, CM Punk, Kofi Kingston and John Morrison. The man is a former United States champion, Intercontinental champion and has been in high-profile matches for the WWE title. Ziggler's in-ring work has warranted a world title reign.

Inside of the ring, Ziggler is simply better than Cody Rhodes because Ziggler can wrestle almost any style match against various opponents and make that match look great. Rhodes is limited with who he can feud with successfully since he isn't one to be able to work with a massive heavyweight like Big Show or Kane in a manner that can entertain the audience like Ziggler can.

Dolph Ziggler is a superstar who can get it done in the ring and is someone who can cut very well-placed promos that generate heat from the live audience when given the chance.

I think Ziggler going out on his own is a needed step towards becoming a World champion. The latest rumor (according to F4WOnline.com, h/t wrestlenewz.com) is that Ziggler is supposed to begin a feud with Randy Orton, so with that opportunity presenting itself, you have to believe that it's only a matter of time before Ziggler is world champion. That time will also come, in some fans' opinions, a lot sooner than Cody Rhodes' time as champion.

Why Cody Rhodes Will Become World Champion Before Dolph Ziggler

Since Cody Rhodes arrived in the WWE back in June 2007, fans have either supported or hated this young man because of the legacy his father left for his young son to follow in. The Rhodes name has been praised by wrestling fans for what father Dusty "The American Dream" and brother Dustin aka Goldust have done in the industry. This left big shoes for Cody to fill and he has done just that in his career.

Cody has been a tag team champion four times in his career and was the longest-reigning IC champion in the 20 years, so people know the championship pedigree that this kid has. The thing that fans used to worry about was his ability to work the audience with his promos.

The idea was tested in 2010 when Cody started using the "Dashing" gimmick that superstars like Rick Martel and Rick Rude used to use in order to generate heat from the audience. Rhodes has become a top heel since breaking out on his own and is now viewed as one of the best superstars in the industry to have never been a world champion.

Now Rhodes is a superstar that some fans believe should be the next "first time" champion because his gimmick is hotter than any other heel superstar in the company. Rhodes loves to put down the fans any chance he gets and push his own good looks on everyone else. No matter how you view this young man, you have to respect the fact that he is one of the top heels in the company today.

I believe that his feuds with Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio last year proved that this young man is ready to be pushed as a world champion.

Rhodes has an advantage over Ziggler and that is the fact that he has not gotten an opportunity to compete for a championship like Ziggler has before. Rhodes has gotten a run like Randy Orton did in 2004 and look where Orton's career has gone since winning the World Heavyweight title from Chris Benoit. Rhodes has gotten the same push and the WWE Universe is beginning to embrace the idea of Rhodes becoming the World Heavyweight champion.

So with all of the ideas and facts that have been presented, I feel personally that Cody Rhodes will get a run as champion before Ziggler will.

Look, Ziggler might have a slight edge on Cody as a performer but with the last name Rhodes, you have to believe that Mr. McMahon will want to push this kid to the moon soon enough as champion and push the prestige factor with his title reign.

Now while I can make my opinion, I feel that the true opinion comes from you the readers, so I would love to hear your thoughts. So please leave your comments below in the comment box and let me know who you think will get the chance first to be a world champion. Either way, fans and critics have to believe that it is only a matter of time before both men get their opportunity at becoming a world champion.
