Big East Set to Look Pretty in Week 13 Rankings

With both Duke and Wake Forest falling, to Clemson and Miami respectively, in what turned out to be another "Wacky Wednesday," the two ACC teams should take a hit come next week's rankings.

Duke was absolutely hammered by Clemson, losing by 27 points, and even though Clemson is a top 10 team, the fact that they got beat by that much will no doubt drop them to the lower portion of the top 10. They will play Miami on Saturday in what will be another shot for the Hurricanes to beat a top 10 team.

Wake Forest, on the other hand, lost to the unranked Hurricanes by 27 points as well, 79-52. This is their second loss in a row to an unranked team and will move them convincingly out of the top 10. On Sunday they will play a good Boston College team, which has won five in a row.

The Big East, on the other hand, is looking to have four teams in the top six.

1. Connecticut (Current 1)

So Far This Week

Won 68-51 @ No. 5 Louisville

Games Remaining

vs. Michigan

The Huskies had a big win at No. 5 Louisville to cement their place at the top of the rankings. Michigan started off hot but has declined since conference play. I predict that UConn will beat Michigan and stay No. 1 next week.

2. Oklahoma (Current 2)

So Far This Week

Won 77-71 vs. Texas A&M

Games Remaining

vs. Colorado

Survived vs. Texas A&M and should handle Colorado.

3. North Carolina (Current 3)

So Far This Week

Won vs. Maryland 108-91

Games Remaining

vs. Virginia

Destroyed Maryland and should handle Virginia at home.

4. Pittsburgh (Current 6)

So Far This Week

Won vs. Robert Morris College 92-72

Games Remaining

@ DePaul

Easy win over non-conference Robert Morris. Should also pick up a win @ DePaul.

5. Marquette (Current 8)

So Far This Week

Won @ DePaul 76-61

Games Remaining

@ South Florida

Easy win over DePaul and should win at South Florida to put the Golden Eagles at 10-0.

6. Louisville (Current 5)

So Far This Week

Loss vs. No. 1 UConn 68-51

Games Remaining

@ St. John's

Yes, they lost to the No. 1 team UConn, but they not only lost; they were blown out at home. Easy win vs. St. John's to have them at 9-1.

7. Clemson (Current 10)

So Far This Week

Won vs. No. 4 Duke 74-47

Games Remaining

vs. Florida State

Should leapfrog Duke, absolutely annihilating them. Florida State will be a tough game though.

8. Duke (Current 4)

So Far This Week

Loss @ No. 10 Clemson 74-47

Games Remaining

vs. Miami

Got absolutely destroyed by Clemson. Will drop, even if they pick up a win vs. Miami.

9. Xavier (Current 9)

vs. Indiana

Crushed No. 19 Minnesota and should get easy win over Indiana.

11. Wake Forest (Current 7)

So Far This Week

Loss @ Miami 79-52

Games Remaining

vs. Boston College

Bound to drop with loss to Miami. Boston College will be a test. If they lose their third in a row, look for them to drop into 20 range.

12. Memphis (Current 14)

So Far This Week

Won Southern Methodist 79-66

Games Remaining

@ No. 18 Gonzaga

Easy win over Southern Methodist. If they win at Gonzaga, they might be put ahead of Wake Forest.

13. UCLA (Current 15)

Won vs. USC 76-60

Games Remaining

vs. Notre Dame

Beat USC and should beat a terrible Notre Dame team in non-conference play.

14. Villanova (Current 17)

So Far This Week

Won @ Providence 94-91

Games Remaining

vs. No. 20 Syracuse

Excellent win at Providence. If they can beat No. 20 Syracuse, they may leapfrog UCLA.

15. Butler (Current 11)

So Far this Week

Loss Green Bay 75-66

Games Remaining

@ Wright State

Loss to decent Green Bay team will move them down some spots.

16. Gonzaga (Current 18)

So Far This Week

Games Remaining

vs. No. 14 Memphis, @ Portland

Should pick up a win @ Portland. No. 14 Memphis will be a test. If they win, they will move higher.

17. Purdue (Current 12)

So Far This Week

Loss @ Ohio State 80-72

Games Remaining

@ No. 23 Illinois

Legitimate loss at Ohio State will have them drop some. Winning at No. 23 Illinois would make up for it.

18. Syracuse (Current 20)

Games Remaining

@ No. 17 Villanova

Excellent win vs. West Virginia. Big game @ No. 17 Villanova. If they win, they will move up further.

Good win at Baylor. Need to take care of Oklahoma State.

Two big away games that will test whether or not the team is overrated.

21. Texas (Current 16)

So Far This Week

Loss vs. Missouri 69-65

Games Remaining

@ Nebraska

Bad loss at home vs. Missouri. Really need to pick up win @ Nebraska.

22. Illinois (Current 23)

So Far This Week

vs. No. 12 Purdue, @ Wisconsin

Can handle a terrible Wisconsin team. No. 12 Purdue will be a test.

@ Oregon, @ Oregon State

They go on a road trip to Oregon against two bad teams.
