Michael Bradley Scores the Only Goal You Need To See This Weekend (Video)
Allow Set Piece a bit of homerism this holiday weekend, will ya? Once you see the goal, we think you'll understand.
For you Europeans who couldn't stay up late for the United States' international friendly against Scotland on Saturday night, you missed a real show. Landon Donovan scored a hat trick, the US midfield purred, Scotland stunk and Michael Bradley scored an absolute stunner.
The move starts with—who else?—Donovan sending in a cross from the right. Schalke 04 midfielder Jermaine Jones receives the pass and then tees up Bradley in the middle.

As you can see, Bradley's strike was outstanding. As the video shows, the Chievo Verona midfielder hits an unstoppable half-volley with the outside of his right foot, with the ball flying away from Scotland goalkeeper Allan McGregor and stinging the top corner of the net.
Well done, Mikey. Guess you weren't on the team because your daddy was the coach after all.
In fact, now that Jurgen Klinsmann has replaced Bob Bradley, the younger Bradley is shutting all his critics up (that number formerly included yours truly).
And another thing: If you watched the match last night, you saw the Americans play better than they have in years, possibly longer. Sure, it was only Scotland, but Klinsi has his Yanks playing an attractive brand of football that's getting the fans excited for the future.
On Saturday night, it was breathtaking to see. Now, let's hope it continues against—gulp—Brazil on Wednesday.
Oh, and one more thing. Those Where's Waldo? jerseys actually looked pretty nice in action. I didn't like them at first, but they've won me over now.
Whatever. As the Scotland game showed, the Waldo look brings the good vibes.
