It seems as though the revolution that the WWE was plugging in their recent viral marketing campaign on WWE.com was nothing more than a plug for the latest installment of the WWE’s video game series, WWE ’13.
With countless different scenarios coming from fans thinking the revolution was a superstar returning or a new era of the company, this is quite a punch in the stomach for those who wanted something groundbreaking.
The WWE started this campaign earlier this month on WWE.com with a short video clip playing in between videos on the site, which caught the interest of fans who wondered what it might be and when it would arrive this year.
In the video found on a random YouTube account, current WWE Champion CM Punk speaks of joining a revolution and living it through the new video game. This video game will be the second in the series following WWE ’12 that replaced the Smackdown vs. Raw game series.
This is just another example of the company having a great opportunity to shock the fans with something completely new and bringing some interest back to the WWE, but they shot themselves in the foot with a simple video game ad.
With the revolution being nothing more than a new WWE video game coming out this fall, do you think the WWE did a good job with this campaign? Should they do something like this again?
