In addition to the beautiful beaches, resorts and legendary songs created by reggae legend Bob Marley that Jamaica is famous for, the Caribbean island is slowly making a name for itself in ice hockey.
Recently, the International Ice Hockey Federation voted the island country as an associate member, which means Jamaica officially has a chance represent the sport during the 2018 Winter Olympic games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Does this mean a Cool Runnings sequel?
The hockey club was inspired by their fellow countrymen, the Olympic bobsledders, who've supported them through the process of assembling the team. The Jamaican Olympic Ice Hockey Federation was created last year and makes them the first Caribbean nation to join the IIHF. Remarkably, the island only has one ice rink, and the team roster is only at 20 players as it continues building interest.
Maybe with the help of supporters, a solid team and an exciting journey, there really will be another movie in the making!
