WWE Over the Limit 2012: Bold Predictions for Every Match

Brian MaziqueMay 20, 2012

Tonight is the night for the next WWE pay-per-view event, and I predict three titles will change hands. I truly believe someone in the WWE is plotting against me, and that has shown in the failure of my most recent predictions.

I predicted CM Punk would lose the title to Chris Jericho twice, obviously it didn't happen.

But I'm persistent, and I believe I've got a bead on things this time around. These predictions obviously won't include any surprise matches. It would seem WWE fans would be treated to at least two more matches considering there are only five scheduled for the actual broadcast.

Check out my predictions for the scheduled matches at Over the Limit:

(images taken from WWE' 12 by THQ, John Laurinaitis and Chris Jericho are created wrestlers)

YouTube and WWE.com match: Kane vs. Zack Ryder

Ryder is a pretty good in-ring performer so he will get an opportunity to show off a bit, but in the end the Big Red Machine will crush him. Its going to appear on YouTube and WWE.com, but it won't last longer than eight to 10 minutes, and Kane will kick Ryder's Woo Woo Woo.

Divas Title Match: (c) Layla vs. Beth Phoenix

The Glamazon is going to come after Layla with a vengeance. Layla will have a few moments, as I don't believe the WWE is ready to dispose of her as a main character in the Divas' division.

Still—Beth will win a semi-competitive match by Glam Slam. Once she's about 40 seconds into her celebration—wait for it—wait for it—Kharma will finally make her return. She will come into the ring to stomp Layla and annihilate Beth.

Because Layla made a decent account of herself, I think she'll be kept in the mix. Look for this to lead to a Triple Threat match at No Way Out with Kharma, Beth and Layla.

The WWE will save the Kharma vs. Beth in a one-on-one match for SummerSlam.

Tag Team Championship: (c) Kofi Kingston and R-Truth vs. Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger

This is going to be an exciting match. I expect to see each of these very talented in-ring performers show off big time. I think each of them deserve a strong singles push, and hopefully this match will help their cause.

Ziggler and Swagger will make Kingston and R-Truth's reign as tag team champions very short. But this could start something the WWE hasn't done as much as they used to; and that is a tag-team feud.

If they can embroil these four talented wrestlers in a team feud, it could be compelling.

But as for tonight, I think Swagger scores the deciding finisher and the pin, and the titles change hands.

Fatal Four Way For World Heavyweight Championship: (c) Sheamus vs. Randy Orton vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Chris Jericho

This match is compelling on star-power alone, and I don't think it'll be a disappointment. Each of them is solid in the ring, with the champion being the worst of the four.

They all have good presence, so I expect their talents to be milked for a good 30 minutes. There will be thrilling near-misses, and a few daring acts (you can almost bet on a spectacular enzuigiri from Del Rio).

When the smoke clears, The Viper will nail Jericho with a RKO, and Sheamus will be unable to break up the pinfall.

Randy Orton will add another title to his illustrious career.

WWE Championship: (c) CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan

Punk and Bryan will put on a great show. This match truly has classic potential, but they may be held back to keep from over-shadowing the main event.

Though I have a feeling the attraction of the main event won't be the in-ring action.

After a great battle that sees each man withstand the other's submission maneuver; Punk will put Bryan out with the GTS to retain his title. It is possible this match creates a long-standing and entertaining feud.

John Cena vs. John Laurinaitis (Laurinaitis' job on the line)

The main event isn't something I'm excited to see, but the pay-off could be cool. Cena will pretty much dominate Laurinaitis early, but the boss will have his moments for the sake of filling the time slot.

The big intrigue around this match is how Laurinaitis is going to screw Cena to keep his job. We all know he isn't going to be fired, there is too much momentum building with him and Cena having a McMahon-Austin-like feud.

Here is how I see it:

Cena will land the Attitude Adjustment on Laurinaitis, but as he goes for the cover, the Big Show and Brock Lesnar will emerge to come to Laurinaitis' aid. They will give Laurinaitis the edge he needs to overcome Cena. Ultimately, it will end in Cena being destroyed by Show and Lesnar.

The Show will be trying to get his job back, and Lesnar will just be behaving like—Lesnar to destroy Cena. I think Laurinaitis may be building an army of henchmen that may ultimately include Batista; but not tonight, he'll be saved for a later appearance.

All in all, it should be a solid event—if my predictions are somewhat accurate.
