Real Madrid Transfer Rumours: 8 Players They're Pursuing This Summer

0 of 8

Real Madrid did win the La Liga title over Barcelona. However, they were only able to beat their bitter rivals once. In order to stop the downward trend by Real Madrid against Barcelona, Madrid will have to pursue some players to make their team the most dangerous in Spain.

Here are some of the players Real Madrid are rumoured to be pursuing once the transfer window opens.

Papiss Cisse

Newcastle's road to the Champions League has gotten some of their players attention from some of the top clubs in the world. Real Madrid is one of those clubs.

According to FootballTransferLeague.co.uk, multiple reports from several different sources link Cisse to the Bernabeau.

Lucas Rodrigues Moura Da Silva

Lucas, as he is known, has been tabbed the new Kaka. He is only 19 and very well could be the next Brazilian star. Real Madrid are not the only big European club who have targeted Lucas. Liverpool have been mentioned to be looking at him.

He has been in Sao Paolo since 2005 as part of the youth program. He broke into the senior team in 2010. Lucas has scored 13 goals in 53 appearances. He has also represented his country at the youth level.

Mauro Caballero

Paraguayan Mauro Caballero could be heading Spain. It may become an El Classico battle in the transfer window. According to a blog on Bettor.com, many European clubs are targeting the youngster. In all honesty, the kid can choose where he wants to play. It becomes a matter of recruiting him.

The two biggest clubs going after the 17-year-old are none other then Barcelona and Real Madrid. An El Classico in the transfer window would be interesting. If either club gets him, the signing could be a deciding factor in which team gets over each other's hump.

Lucas Biglia

The Anderlecht man may be headed to Madrid this summer. Several rumours have linked him to the Bernabeau. Lucas Biglia has reportedly been a target of Arsene Wenger as well as Real.

According to an ESPN report, Biglia has insisted he wants to leave the Belgian champions. If a team does sign him, they will have to pay a €10 million buyout clause. The Argentine defensive midfielder has three years remaining on his contract.

Edison Cavani

Cavani has been important for Napoli's recent run in Serie A. According to a Goal.com article last year, Real Madrid has been a team he has always wanted to play for.

Liverpool were rumoured to have shown interest in Cavani back in January but the deal never came together.

Cavani has said he is living the dream in Naples, but should the challenge arise, he would love to join Mourinho at the Bernabeau.

Alex Song

Arsenal have a group of players that Real Madrid could target.

    We'll start with Alex Song.

Song is an enforcer at defensive midfield. He could slip in and play in back if he absolutely had to. His hard tackling may not result in more fouls in La Liga, but it would not hurt to have a physical presence on the back line.

Song isn't the best player going forward. At the moment, he still has some value. If Arsenal needs to move some finances around, Song could be the guy they sell. Real Madrid may be the team that swoops in and gets him in order to have another body in the midfield for cheap.

Thomas Vermaelen

Vermaelen is the second player from Arsenal that Real Madrid may take a look at signing.

Like Song, Vermaelen may be on his way to the Bernabeau as Jose Mourinho may have his sights on him.

According to a CaughtOffside.com article, Mourinho will be looking to replace Ricardo Carvalho. Mourinho might have is Vermaelen as the guy to do just that.

Robin Van Persie

RvP is someone the Real Madrid brass certainly will have to take look at. Since van Persie is out of a contract in a few weeks, the team that signs him won't have to fork over suitcases full of cash in order to get the services of the Dutch striker.

They may have to go after van Persie just to keep him away from Barcelona.

The Mirror cited the Express in a report that Real Madrid was planning on making a £25million bid. The Sun later reported that van Persie had "rubbished" the offer. Madrid cannot pass on the opportunity to add another scoring threat.

The possible combination of van Persie and Cristiano Ronaldo would undoubtedly be the best in the world.
