Chad Jennings talks about the depth of pitching the Yankees now have. The Yankees have their five guys set for the start of the season in Sabathia, Wang, Burnett, Chamberlain and Pettitte.

The Yankees have a bunch of young players waiting in the wings to get a chance at the big league level, but it won’t be that easy considering the Yankees have no spots opened with the addition of Pettitte.

Andy signed a one-year contract with the Yanks, and I assume he is pretty much done after this season. I expect one spot to be opened up next year for someone. Hopefully that goes to Phil Hughes.

No matter the organization, frustration is ever-present in the minor leagues. It will be no different this year, and these are the potential Yankees minor league starters who might have to deal with it.

This list includes any pitcher, regardless of age, who has: 1. Pitched at or above Double-A in the past; 2. Could open the season in either the Triple-A or Double-A rotation; and 3. Could force open a door to the big leagues. It’s a long list, and it’s a good list.*

It’s proof that the Yankees impressive starting pitching extends well beyond the five names expected to form the opening day rotation in New York.
