It was a wild night in Memphis.
During the Memphis Grizzlies' NBA playoff game against the Los Angeles Clippers, WWE legend and Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler made a surprise appearance to fire up his hometown crowd.
"The King" took a page out of his old-school Memphis Wrestling playbook, by delivering a piledriver, to a local independent wrestler, disguised as a Clippers fan.
During TNT's Inside the NBA, NBA legend Charles Barkley made a challenge to current WWE superstar Brock Lesnar.
Brock Lesnar, you better leave John Cena alone. Or me and Shaq are coming for you. Brock Lesnar, get off John Cena, or I'm gonna make a personal appearance on RAW.
The TNT crew also showed footage from when Shaquille O'Neal was the guest host for Monday Night Raw, and had an altercation with WWE Superstar "The Big Show."
Barkley has been a long-time pro wrestling fan, and it will be interesting to see if WWE invites him to the show, to participate in some form. There is an article on WWE.com about Lawler's appearance at the Grizzlies game, and also some discussion about Barkley's remarks.
I am certainly not a fan of guest hosts on Raw, usually because most of them look like they have no business anywhere near a ring, and are just there to promote something. But with Shaq and Barkley, we are talking about two legit athletes. Not only that, but they are also big fans of WWE.
With that being said, I would love to see Barkley have some kind of confrontation with Lesnar on WWE TV. Not a match, just some kind of pull-apart brawl. While there at it, they might as well have Shaq involved, too, if they can.
Many years ago, WCW featured NBA legends Dennis Rodman and Karl Malone on opposing sides of the wrestling ring. Malone tagged with Diamond Dallas Page, as the duo battled, Dennis Rodman and his tag team partner, "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan. The match was a success, and drew great interest from fans and media outlets from around the world.
What's everyone think about, John Cena and Charles Barkley versus Brock Lesnar and Shaquille O'Neal at this years Summerslam?
