Rangers-Hurricanes: New York Edges Out Carolina

Sterling EbyAnalyst IJanuary 28, 2009

Once again, the Hurricanes are defeated in a close one.

The Rangers capped off their victory in the third period when Brandon Dubinsky scored with 7:50 left in the game to make it a 3-1 lead for the Rangers.

However, the Hurricanes came back less than thirty seconds later when Canes winger Tuomo Ruutu scored his 14th goal of the season to make it 3-2.

But for Carolina, that was all she wrote.

The story of this game is that the Rangers seem to remain the best penalty-killing team in the NHL, shutting the Hurricanes down four times. Stephen Valiquette came up good in a spot start effort, allowing only two goals in 35 shots.
