WWE News: Vince McMahon Comments on the Debut of the WWE Network in 2012

Chris HumphreyJun 7, 2018

Following the announcement of creation of the WWE Network last year, to debut sometime this year, the new venture by the WWE has gone through a number of obstacles in the course to going on the air in the homes of the WWE universe.

Over the past few months, it has been reported that the WWE Network hasn’t gotten any major cable provider to pick up the channel on their lineups of subscription channels.

In addition to this, the entire channel was pushed back until later this fall, when it was originally going to debut at WrestleMania.

During the annual stockholder’s meeting Friday at WWE headquarters in Connecticut, the chairman and CEO of the WWE, Vince McMahon, commented on the future of the WWE Network after being asked by one of the company’s stockholders.

"

Regarding the Network launching, Vince admitted he did not have an answer but said an announcement is forthcoming. He said they are taking their time so they can keep options open.

"

In the earlier moments of the WWE Network, I was fully on board and ready to pick up the channel through my local cable provider for the originally advertised debut date earlier this month, on April 1.

Following the channel's being pushed back to a fall debut, there was a little bit of doubt that started to creep into my mind, but even with its being delayed, I was still optimistic about the WWE Network.

While understanding the reasoning behind McMahon's not wanting to announce a date, the holding off on saying anything about the WWE Network might start hurting the chances that cable providers and fans alike pick up the channel later this year.

The WWE Network can still be a success for the company if it focuses on wrestling, like hosting pay-per-views and other live action instead of depending on bogus reality shows involving some legends of the WWE or the Divas.

After reading McMahon's comment, what are your opinions on the WWE Network? When it finally makes on the air, will the venture be a successful one for the WWE?
