The WWE has given the WWE Universe a lot to think about, and a lot of these thoughts have lead to questions that should be answered at Extreme Rules this Sunday.
The Extreme Rules card looks very solid now. This is what it currently looks like:
Extreme Rules Pre-Show
The Miz vs. Santino Marella for the United States Championship.
Stipulation to the match between Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes will be decided through wheel spin.
Extreme Rules Show
Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes for the Intercontinental Championship.
Nikki Bella vs. Beth Phoenix for the Diva's Championship.
Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan in a 2/3 Falls match for the World Heavyweight Championship.
CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho in a Chicago Street Fight for the WWE Championship.
John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar in a Extreme Rules match.
The card is definitely strong, but it gives the WWE a lot to think about. Let's take a look at the 15 burning questions the fans want answered.
Santino Marella and the Miz are going to face-off in a match prior to the actual Extreme Rules show.
Marella won the U.S. Championship in March by shocking the world and rolling up Jack Swagger for the pin. Since then, Marella has been one of the biggest draws in the company. He has not made himself look like a fool, well not as much as before, and he has not lost very much.
The belt seems to be doing wonders around his waist as of now, but with the way he has been teaming up with Brodus Clay lately, it seems like he might drop the title to pursue a career in tag-team wrestling.
Marella's hot streak may actually come to an end at Extreme Rules, but he may pick the heat back up if he and Clay really mesh for one interesting tag team.
The gum that you stepped on last night on the bottom of your shoe is more relevant than the Miz as of right now.
The Miz went from headlining WrestleMania 27 to being apart of a 6 on 6 tag-team match in WrestleMania 28. He has been humiliated, buried and forgotten. He has not been featured on Monday Night Raw as of late; instead, he made an appearance on Superstars.
However, the Miz will likely begin to rebuild his stock this Sunday by defeating Santino Marella and winning back the U.S. championship. He was a great U.S. champ before, and he could easily be great again.
Either way, for a guy who has been a tag team champion, U.S. champion and WWE champion, fighting on a pre-show is nothing to be proud of.
At WrestleMania 28, Kane and Randy Orton had a match and the result was actually quite shocking.
However, at Extreme Rules, Kane will likely not beat Randy Orton. Let's be honest here, Kane has been nothing more than a glorified jobber as of late, and there is no reason to believe that he is going to be make one of the company's top guys look weak again.
Expect a fun match, but a match in where the "Viper" comes out the victor.
Randy Orton has been out of the title picture for a very long time.
Ever since Orton went down with a back injury and concussion a couple of months ago, he has faded away into the darkness. Not many fans have reason to complain about Orton, because he has been kind of irrelevant as of late.
However, this may change after Extreme Rules. You can't expect one of the biggest draws in the WWE to be put on the back-burner for this long.
Expect Orton to beat Kane and begin to challenge the winner of the Sheamus and Daniel Bryan match.
Kharma is the only woman who could save the Divas division from turmoil.
There have been plenty of rumors about Kharma returning to the WWE. Many are wondering if she would come back now because of the "injury" to Beth Phoenix this past Monday Night on Raw.
Expect her to come back at Extreme Rules or the next night on Raw and win the Divas championship. The Divas division might be strong again with Kharma in the mix. The division needs to be revamped and Kharma is just the lady who could do it.
After the weeks of humiliation that were dished out by Cody Rhodes towards the Big Show and his unfortunate struggles at WrestleMania, the Big Show has gotten the last words.
At WrestleMania 28, the Big Show defeated Rhodes in their match and became the new Intercontinental champion. After he won, he kept interrupting Rhodes's matches the way he was being interrupted prior to that.
Big Show kept showing highlights of Rhodes losing matches in back-to-back weeks.
It's not likely that the Big Show will lose this match at this point.
Rhodes is prepared for a big push, and there is no way he will do it with the Intercontinental title around his waist. The only way this push would work is if he were moved to Raw, where everyone would suddenly forget about the humiliation the Big Show put him through.
Cody Rhodes has the look, the skill and the "swagger" to be one of the top guys in the business. A combination of his young age and raw talent have kept him in the mid-card for so long.
Rhodes will likely lose this match against the Big Show, as I have already speculated in the prior slide, and move on to greener pastures.
This will not only be his last match in the mid-card, but it should also be the last time he is ever featured on SmackDown. A move to Raw and a feud with one of the top faces should set him up for a nice WWE title run.
It's not a matter of if Rhodes will get a push to become the WWE champion, it's now a matter of when and how.
This is definitely one of the hottest topics on every wrestling fan's mind. The feud between Chris Jericho and CM Punk is not only one of the best feuds in the new era, but the match they had at WrestleMania 28 was also one of the best matches in the new era.
Is it possible for another match at a lesser pay-per-view to be more entertaining?
Yes. It is definitely possible.
Since their match at WrestleMania, this feud has only become hotter. The story has been developed a lot over the past few weeks. The bottle Jericho broke on Punk's head, the spilling of the beer over Punk's body, the incredible drunk angle that Punk pulled off on Raw was all part of one of the greatest build-ups in a while.
Don't forget that this match will take place in Chicago, Punk's home and one of the best places to have a wrestling event.
CM Punk won the epic match at WrestleMania 28, and every member of the WWE Universe is wondering whether Jericho will get the last laugh.
It only makes sense for Jericho to win here. It will add to his heat by defeating Punk in his hometown in front of Punk's family. Jericho has been tormenting Punk because of his father's old habits with alcohol along with the demons in his mother and sisters' lives.
If Jericho does lose here, the whole angle will go to a waste and there will not have even been a reason to bring him back to the WWE. It's not like Punk needed a bigger push than he already had.
However, if Punk loses, he would look a bit weaker also. The torment he would suffer by losing in front of his hometown and family to the man that has been exposing his past would not benefit him at all.
This match could go either way, but one thing is for sure, this will be the match of the night by far.
Here's something else that's been on everyone's mind when the topic of Chris Jericho and CM Punk come up: will this be the final encounter between the two?
If Jericho wins, expect the feud to continue for another PPV. If Punk wins, you could put a nail in the coffin of this feud and expect for Jericho to be off television for some time.
It seems likely that this feud will continue on for as long as possible until the fans or the WWE creative team realizes it is getting stale.
If it were based on the Internet Wrestling Community, this feud would have been stale by now, but if it were up to the creative team, this feud might continue up until WrestleMania 30.
One thing is for sure here, this feud is too great for it to end in a uncreative way.
If you have not been hearing the constant "YES! YES! YES! YES!" chants while watching wrestling, then you must be watching TNA.
Daniel Bryan's "YES!" chant has become one of the most annoying yet fun chants in the WWE. The "WHAT?" chants were getting very old, and it is great to see it finally being replaced (unless you watched the NFL draft and noticed that the crowd was chanting "WHAT" to Roger Goodell every time he spoke).
The chants have become so popular that the WWE made a t-shirt out of the chant. The "YES!" celebration by Bryan was meant for a heel and not a babyface. However at this point, the cheers may be too loud for the WWE to keep him as a title-less heel.
The WWE creative team might not give the strap to Bryan just yet, but if the chants continue to grow, then there is no way that Bryan stays a title-less heel for very long.
Sheamus has been on fire in the WWE as of late.
It seems like Sheamus is unstoppable. Maybe it is because of the fact that he is Triple H's close friend backstage or because he is one strong Irish man who does not care about who he harms.
He won the Royal Rumble, continued to beat almost everyone in his way on the road to WrestleMania where he defeated Daniel Bryan for the World Heavyweight championship in under 20 seconds.
It has been on great hot streak but unfortunately for him and everyone else in the locker room, no one is hotter than Bryan now. The WWE may panic and put the belt on Bryan because of the love from the fans, which means Sheamus loses his "steam."
Does it happen at Extreme Rules? Possibly, but if you were able to bet on WWE matches, smart money would be on Sheamus retaining the title for a bit longer.
Lord Tensai (the wrestler formerly known as Prince Albert and A-Train), was brought back to the WWE the night after WrestleMania on Monday Night Raw.
Since then, he has went over a couple of jobbers and John Cena, who at this point, is looking like a jobber himself.
Tensai is not on the card as of this writing, but he may have some sort of involvement in the match between Cena and Brock Lesnar. There is also a chance he gets involved with the Punk and Jericho match as well.
Unless the WWE just throws in a last-minute match during the PPV like they always do, expect for Tensai to get involved with a top guy in one of the top matches on the card.
John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar is the most anticipated match of the night for most WWE fans. This match will definitely not be a five-star match because Lesnar might be a bit rusty, while Cena is not really known for superb wrestling skill.
The question on everyone's mind is whether Cena gets his revenge on Lesnar for beating him down so many times. On the other hand, people are wondering if this is just the beginning for Lesnar and his push to becoming the WWE champion.
Just like everything with Cena, there are just as many people who want him to lose and look weak than there are people who want to see him win and make Lesnar look like the fool.
The WWE loves Cena, and if they want to keep him as the face of the company and market him to newer fans who have only come to watch Lesnar and the Rock, then they need for him to pick up a victory here. There is no reason to keep making your top guy look weak for wrestlers who are not permanent.
However, if Lesnar loses here, then what was the point of bringing him back in the first place if he is only going to lose to Cena?
This is one of the toughest answers to speculate, but it seems like the children and women will be very upset when they see Lesnar on top of Cena's bloody body after their Extreme Rules match.
This is not going to be a speculation on whether John Cena turns heel at Extreme Rules, because he won't, and you can take that to the bank. Cena will become a baby-heel (patent pending).
What might happen is a change in Cena's character. Instead of him being the joyous man who frolics around the ring and cuts kiddie promos, he will become the guy who comes out with the chain around his neck, spit a couple of rhymes and handle business. However this time, he won't do it as a heel.
Cena won't be that rapper who comes out with a jersey and hat backwards, but he will have the same attitude with his opponents while he continues to pander to his fans. The jolly "Never Give Up" Cena will be replaced with the ruthless and aggressive Cena who does not lay down for anyone.
Win or lose, his character will change. However if he loses, his character will transform much better. The 50/50 chants for Cena will likely become 70/30 after Extreme Rules because some of his doubters may pick up a Fruity Pebble-colored T-shirt and rise above hate when this match is over.
