Calvin Johnson and Cam Newton have made it to the finals of the Madden '13 cover vote. Each player is well deserving of the title, but only one can walk away victorious. The winner of the vote will be announced on April 25th at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

The bracket started with 32 players ranked 1-through-16 on two sides of the bracket. Just like any other bracket, the No. 1 seed played the No. 16 seed in the first round, and so on and so forth.

Cam Newton came into the bracket as the No. 1 seed on the left side of the bracket, after only playing in one NFL season. Newton earned that No. 1 spot after having an outstanding rookie season. Newton had very little difficulty advancing through the bracket, as the biggest challenge he faced was in the previous round against Patrick Willis. Newton won the vote by six percent to advance to the finals.

On the other side of the bracket, we have Calvin Johnson aka Megatron representing the right side in the finals. Johnson, a sixth seed coming into the tournament, seemed like an underdog the whole way through when, actually, I think he was the favorite out of the entire right side.

Johnson, in my opinion, was ranked too low, as he should have been a third or fourth seed in the bracket. Either way, he has stormed his way to the finals and his road wasn't an easy one. In the third round he upset fan favorite Rob Gronkowski in stunning fashion, and then also beat out Rodgers by an even larger margin to make his way to the finals.

Even if you do win the Madden cover vote, it comes with a price. The dreaded "Madden Curse" will now be cast onto the winning player and, according to legend, that player will be injured in the upcoming season. Even if you don't believe in the curse, stats don't lie. The player who makes the cover will most likely get injured or his production will go down immensely.

When you are voting for who you want to appear on the cover, there is also a little bit of logic going into the vote: Do you want to see your favorite player on the cover of a video game or on the bench?

If you're a Green Bay Packers fan, you would vote for Calvin Johnson to make sure he is not playing next season. And likewise for the Falcons or Saints: Vote for Cam Newton so he can't lead the Panthers at quarterback next season.

Whoever you decide to vote for, I think both players have had outstanding seasons and both deserve the cover vote—but only one can win. So with that said, my vote goes with Calvin Johnson.
