Alabama Football Recruiting: A Look at Top DE Recruit Robert Nkemdiche

Blake SilversJun 5, 2018

Widely considered the nation's No. 1 overall recruit for 2013, Loganville, Georgia's Robert Nkemdiche (pronounced Kim-DEE-Chee) is set to announce his college of choice on May 18.

“I’m ready to commit because I know where I want to go.  I feel like I’ve seen all the places I needed to see, and talked to all the coaches everywhere," the Grayson High School star defender recently told Michael Carvell of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Though Nkemdiche said that his weekend visit to LSU was a "10," he also had nothing negative to say about Alabama, telling the AJC that "there would be no 'cons' about me going there."

The defensive end's list is now down to LSU, Alabama, UGA, Ole Miss and Clemson, with Texas, Oregon, Florida, South Carolina and Southern Cal also still on the radar.

Nkemdiche currently holds the top spot on the 2013 version of the ESPN150, and holds a coveted five-star rating on nearly every major recruiting outlet's website. And at 6'5" and 265 pounds, he already has good size and room for even more build.

This junior is said to have quickness to go along with his size.  His 247sports.com profile has Nkemdiche at a 4.65 40-yard time.  Scott Kennedy of Scout.com says that he "has uncommon strength and power to go along with feet quick enough that he could be a viable RB prospect," which is a pretty rare attribute of a run-of-the-mill defensive end at the high school level.

The question that remains is...will he pick the Tide?
