Chelsea vs. Barcelona: Memorable Moments in Chelsea's Second Leg Triumph

Here are the minutes of Chelsea's memorable win at Camp Nou.

 

First minute: Kick off: Chelsea, but they cannot keep the ball.

Second minute: An over-the-top ball to Alexis Sanchez, who manages to escape John Terry—but Petr Cech gathers.

Third minute: Chelsea's defense is breached in a one-two involving Lionel Messi. Messi's shot is side-netted.

Fifth minute: Scything move by Barcelona involving Messi and Sanchez through Chelsea's defense, answered by rearguard action from Chelsea. Garry Cahill appears to stretch his hamstring.

Eighth minute: Barcelona goes one-two, one-two through the heart of Chelsea's defense.

10th minute: Barcelona execute a diagonal movement from the right of the final third to the left. Messi, Cesc Fabregas and Iniesta are all involved. Iniesta's cross seems destined for a head-in but for a timely intervention by a Chelsea defender.

12th minute: Cahill is subbed, and José Bosingwa comes on. Barcelona are camped around Chelsea's penalty area.

13th-15th minute: There are multiple skirmishes as Chelsea try to play out of their own half.

16th minute: A clash results between Victor Valdes, Didier Drogba and Gerard Pique Pique when Valdes comes out to punch away the ball from Drogba's threat.

 

19th minute: Chelsea are carved open. Messi's shot is parried by Petr Cech. A rebound shot is blocked.

19th minute: Another attack by Barcelona results in another shot side-netted, this time by Isaac Cuenca.

20th minute: A shot on goal by Javier Mascherano misses by few inches.

24th minute: Didier Drogba forays forward on his own down the left flank and on the by-line. He side-nets.

25th minute: Pique is unable to continue, so on comes Dani Alves.

26th minute: For Barcelona's first corner, Carles Puyol tries to head, but the ball goes into touch on the right.

30th minute: Barcelona's second corner is taken short. Andres Iniesta's shot outside the area is skewed wide.

31 minute: Chelsea venture into the Barcelona half. Barcelona come away with the ball. Mikel Obi fouls Alexis Sanchez and is yellow-carded.

34th minute: Barcelona's third corner is headed away by Drogba.

34th minute: A goal develops from the corner which Drogba headed away. It falls to Dani Alves who passes right to Cuenca, whose cross Busquets bundles home. Goal: Barcelona.

36th minute: John Terry is red-carded for an off-the-ball incident. He knees Alexis Sanchez when he thinks the referee isn't looking, but the fifth official sees him. It is a clear red card. Silly Terry.

 

43rd minute: A sweeping move from Barcelona from their own half results in Cuenca bringing away the ball then finding Sanchez. Sanchez passes to Messi, and Messi passes to Iniesta who scores. Goal: Barcelona.

44th minute: Ramires earns a yellow card. Chelsea are now coming out to try to find a goal. This is opening up more space for Barcelona.

45th minute:   Ramires scores out of nowhere. Frank Lampard is involved. He releases Ramires, who chips over Victor Valdes. Advantage: Chelsea. Goal: Chelsea.

45+2: A Barcelona corner comes to nothing.

46th minute: Fabregas lays the ball off to Iniesta. The shot is blocked for a corner.

47th minute: Penalty! Didier Drogba appears to foul Cesc Fabregas in the penalty area. The official behind the goal seems to be the one calling it. Messi misses, hitting the crossbar.

48th minute: Branislav Ivanovic is given a yellow card, which seems to be for dissent involving the penalty.

49th minute: Iniesta is yellow-carded.

53rd minute: Alves crosses for Sanchez to head. It's just wide.

 

56th minute: A long-range shot from Drogba misses from his own half after bringing away the ball.

57th minute: Juan Mata is subbed. Salomon Kalou comes on.

58th minute: A free kick by Barcelona is headed wide by Puyol. Petr Cech is booked for time wastage.

61st minute: Chelsea is carved open, and Cech blocks a shot from Cuenca.

63rd minute: A corner is forced by Drogba on Mascherano. Ivanovic wastes a free header.

65th minute: A corner from Barcelona is taken short. Another corner is taken, again short.

70th minute: Messi gets a yellow card for pulling Lampard back after losing the ball.

73rd minute: Fabregas is subbed for Seidu Kaita.

77th minute: Busquets fires over in a good position to score.

79th minute: Drogba comes off. Torres comes on.

81st minute: Goal... for Barcelona, but it is ruled offside.

82nd Minute: Messi surges forward, resultant shot hits the post after Cech's finger tips touches it.

86th minute: A Barcelona corner comes to naught.

89th minute: A shot from Mascherano is parried away by Cech.

90th minute Torres rounds the keeper and scores. Chelsea are through to the final! Goal: Chelsea.
