Wec38 By: Jordan Small - MMA HANGOVER

In the middle of an action packed month of MMA, which features two UFC pay-per-views, Affliction's second event ever and Sengoku's seventh battle, WEC 38 has been under the radar in the month of January but not forgotten. Despite not having a lot of big name fighters in their organization, WEC still has managed to put together a solid one, two punch in both their main and co-main events on Sunday. WEC lightweight champion, Jamie Varner, will be looking to find his place among the world's top 155 pounders when he defends his crown against undefeated, number one contender, "The Cowboy" Donald Cerrone.

Jamie Varner is an exciting and explosive talent in the WEC and has defeated all of his opponents by knock out since joining the promotion back in 2007. In that time frame, Jamie has also captured the WEC lightweight championship and defended it. Varner will look to shut down Cerrone, using the same techniques as his previous WEC bouts, which have turned his life around for the better.

Donald "The Cowboy" is an undefeated, submission specialist who has only gone to the judges score cards once in his professional career. In preparation for this fight, Cerrone has been training with UFC welterweight champion, Georges St. Pierre, which will obviously benefit him coming into Sunday nights main event.

MMA HANGOVER's prediction for the main event at WEC 38: A new king will be crowned as Cerrone will upset the champ. Cerrone by third round submission.
