WWE News: Stipulation Added to John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules
Honestly, I am a little torn on this news.
According to WWE.com, Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena at Extreme Rules will now be an Extreme Rules match. There will be no count-outs or disqualifications.
This will be Lesnar's first match in WWE since Wrestle Mania XX in March 2004. This will be Cena's first pay-per-view match since losing to The Rock at Wrestle Mania XXVIII a few weeks ago.
My Thoughts on This News
On one hand, this makes sense.
Brock has not had a real match in nearly a decade for WWE. There is no way he can step right in and have an excellent singles match.
Look at The Rock last year. He worked a tag-team match at Survivor Series to get ready for 'Mania. It was a great night, and everyone could tell how hard he worked.
Also, most are expecting Cena to lose at Extreme Rules. Thus, it can't be clean. That already happened with Rocky. Two straight would not be very wise by WWE.
Let the two men brawl all over the place, leading to a big finish!
On the flip side, this is still an "added" stipulation for no reason. I understand the pay-per-view name, but those mean nothing these days.
If there is going to be a long feud between these two, you can't start out with a gimmick match. That is backward thinking.
All in all, this certainly makes the match more interesting. It will allow Lesnar to ease his way back into the company, as well as let Cena lose with an "out."
I know I am looking forward to it. Are you?
