Anselmo Moreno vs. David De La Mora: Start Time, Live Streaming and Schedule

Adam WellsApr 17, 2012

The boxing calendar keeps on churning out championship fights, with Anselmo Moreno defending the WBA Super World Bantamweight Title against David De La Mora in this weekend.

Moreno is not a glamorous fighter in the ring, but he understands his strengths and limitations and doesn't let anything deter him from executing his game plan. He has not lost a fight since 2002, the lone defeat of his professional career.

De La Mora is the polar opposite of Moreno. He is going into the ring looking to end it. He has a relentless approach and good power that has helped him score 17 knockouts in his 24 victories. He is coming off a controversial loss to Koki Kameda last August.

Moreno's Keys to Victory

Use counter-punching to keep De Le Mora off balance, and make De La Mora use his stamina early.

Moreno can't get into a punching fight with De Le Mora. He is an incredibly smart fighter, who understands that his bread gets buttered with stamina and effective strikes.

As long as Moreno doesn't try to alter the way he fights to try proving something to someone, he should be able to dictate the pace of this bout.

De La Mora's Keys to Victory

Get Moreno uncomfortable early by attacking with heavy strikes.

De La Mora can't allow Moreno to control the pace of the fight. He has to come out fast and furious, ready to knock someone out. He has the arsenal to do it—the only question is whether he can break through Moreno's wall of defense.

As long as De La Mora is landing big shots early, he has a great shot to walk away with the championship.

What They Are Saying

Moreno is trying to keep his star rising following an impressive performance against Vic Darchinyan last December made him feel more confident in what he can do and what people think he can be as a fighter.

From Boxing Scene:

"

There was a lot of talk from people that it was a dangerous fight, that I was in over my head and that he was going to run me over, but I was never worried about that. I was always very confident about my skills. Once i stepped in the ring, I was very comfortable and very confident that I could outbox him and beat him clearly.

"

Prediction

Moreno has the experience and the name, but De La Mora is an emerging star who is going to make the biggest statement of his career.

De La Mora wins via 10th-round TKO
