MLB, Toronto Blue Jays

The words "poor" and then "offense" comes to mind when you think of the Blue Jays. Two runs in two games for the slacking bats.

It is only the second game of spring training, but I think it might be a problem if this trend continues.

Roy Halladay was shaky, scattering three hits and allowing a run in two innings of work. An ace like Halladay needs a couple of starts to get it going again, though.

Frank Thomas lit up a wall by doubling off of it. And the guy who I predicted to hit .354 with 26 HRs, 100+ RBIs and 60 doubles was Lyle Overbay. Overbay doubled two times!

You don't want to two-time Lyle Overbay.  The reason why the lefties will fare incredibly well this season in the Toronto offense is because there are only two of them in David Eckstein and Lyle Overbay with Matt Stairs occasionally.

Pitchers will get a used to facing the mostly righty lineup, and baseball's a game of inches. If a pitcher misses slightly, Overbay will make him pay.

For the bullpen, the Blue Jays relied on a number of pitchers. The standout was Bryan Wolfe, striking out the side.  The team will rely on Wolfe if Janssen takes hold of the fifth starter role.

As for the Tigers, they beat up Roy Halladay a bit. Two straight days and only seven runs for that menacing Tigers offense.

You're just getting a look at how good the Blue Jays pitching is. Not many will shut down the Tigers' offense, that's for sure.

Verlander was strong, but Robertson was not, surrendering two doubles to Blue Jay menaces, Thomas and Overbay.

Granderson once again went deep.

One can only hope the Jays offense wakes up!

Vernon Wells is yet to get a hit. He went 0 for 3 today as his two-season long slump continues.
