Kermit the Frog Gets Great Seats at New York Yankees Home Opener

Ian CasselberryJun 7, 2018

Opening Day brings out plenty of dignitaries to celebrate the beginning of another baseball season.

Politicians, celebrities and former players are among those who show up to give a team's home opener that extra feeling of importance.

At Yankee Stadium, the famous faces might include Rudy Giuliani, Billy Crystal or Yogi Berra.

Or Kermit the Frog.

Yes, Kermit the Frog. The most famous Muppet of all got a choice box seat at the New York Yankees' home opener on Friday, right near the visitors' on-deck circle.

Miss Piggy is probably furious she didn't get a seat next to Kermit. Surely she would have liked to meet New York mayor Michael Bloomberg as well? Maybe she was up in one of the suites. That sun could roast her delicate skin.

(It's possible that Miss Piggy was in attendance, but perhaps sitting by the Yankees' dugout. After all, that's where Derek Jeter is. Or is she more Alex Rodriguez's type?)

That being said, wouldn't Animal be a better heckler for the home team? Especially if he brought his drum set with him. It just seems like a detail the Yankees wouldn't have overlooked. Then again, maybe that would be a little noisy for the fans sitting around him.

What I'm also curious about is how Kermit pays for a hot dog and beer. Where does he keep his wallet? Is Bloomberg picking up the tab? It really is easy being green.

Thanks to SiriusXM's Mike Ferrin for posting the screen cap on Twitter.
