WWE Raw: Will Washington D.C. Cheer 'Yes! Yes! Yes!' for Daniel Bryan Tonight?

Justin WatryJun 2, 2018

Let me make a few notes first.

1. Daniel Bryan is a Smackdown superstar. I know the brand extension means very little, but it is worth putting out there that he may not even appear on Monday Night Raw in Washington D.C.

2. I have never been to the Washington D.C. area, so I can't speak on their wrestling fanbase. If anybody wants to shed some light on their experience watching WWE there, feel free to do so.

3. Last week was a very unique "too smart" audience for the company. Being WrestleMania season, it is only the most diehard fans that will go to Sunday and Monday's show.

4. Finally, let's not forget a few months ago that fans chanted "We want Ryder" week after week after week after week. Months later, the "fad" of caring about him is all but over.

All that being said, tonight is a huge night for Daniel Bryan. His fanbase was more than vocal last week about their displeasure. He lost his World Title to Sheamus in less than a minute, as he should have.

As time goes on, more and more fans will see that that was the right move. Not only is Sheamus now set for a long title run at the top, but Daniel Bryan may have earned even more.

He gained a new shirt. He gained some new attention. He may have even set forth a new chant for the WWE Universe to use for the next decade. All of this came from his 18-second loss.

Continue to deny it. That short match may have done more for Bryan than anything else in his two-year WWE career.

Tonight will be the major turning point.

Again, last week's crowd was special. That will not be topped for a long time. However, that doesn't mean you have to sell the D.C. audience short.

Remember when Chris Jericho vs. John Cena saw a split crowd at SummerSlam in 2005?

Yeah, that was Washington D.C. It was also one of the first few signs of a live audience turning against Cena in the ring. I still remember that match to this day.

They have shown some support for their favorites in the past. It will not be a cut-and-dry area for WWE tonight. With Brock Lesnar set to appear, who knows if they will even react to him?

While all eyes (and ears) will be on the usual suspects like John Cena, Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, Chris Jericho and others, do not forget about Daniel Bryan.

He had a huge amount of attention last week. With a live show tonight (and tomorrow's SmackDown special), it is now up to the live audience to deliver.

Will they mildly cheer for Bryan? How about they chant "Yes!" for him all night? Maybe he doesn't even show up? If he appears, how does the crowd react to Sheamus? What about the rest of the talent?

So many questions...only one way to find out. Watch Raw live tonight from Washington D.C.
