WWE Smackdown: Looking at All the 'Blast from the Past' Legends
This Tuesday night, WWE will have a special live Smackdown. The theme of the episode will be a "blast from the past" with many legends in the arena. While Mean Gene Okerlund did appear in the commercial, he was never announced as appearing.
Honestly, a lot of the names advertised could be fun. With Brock Lesnar and the Three Stooges set for Raw, who knows what could be in store for the WWE Universe next Tuesday?
Mick Foley
Honestly, I would love to see his "intense" attitude return. We saw it earlier this year with Dolph Ziggler, but it was gone soon after. His sock battled Santino Marella's cobra, and he made a comedic appearance at WrestleMania.
I have no idea what he will do next Tuesday. Perhaps he can confront Mr. Excitement or something over the General Manager's position? I really am interested in Foley appearing next week.
Roddy Piper
This one is easy. Put Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio and Daniel Bryan in Piper's Pit. Let the three talk about their feud and end with a brawl. Perfect!
Tony Atlas
This man is hilarious. He is there for one reason and one reason only. His laugh!
Just like he did at the Slammy Awards, I hope he breaks out in laughter over something backstage. With Ron Simmons not set for the show, we will need some comedy.
Pat Patterson
Honestly, there is no logical place to put him. Have him backstage giving some advice or something to Ryback. A few words of wisdom for a legend could work well next Tuesday.
Jim Duggan
Didn't he team up with Santino Marella last time he was on Smackdown?
He and the Cobra could face Primo and Epico once again. It would give the tag champs another win, and who doesn't love my "it" girl, Rosa Mendes? She is the true star of the tag team division.
Dusty Rhodes
Again, this one should be simple. Have him give some advice to Cody Rhodes about his loss to Big Show at Mania. If WWE really wanted to, they could bring in Goldust here.
That "feud" was pointless a few months ago. With Dusty in town, it could easily start up again. It all depends on if Dusty will play a big role or not.
Million Dollar Man
Ted DiBiase will be on hand. That is always fun to see. His son is currently injured, so that option is out. Without much of a story to be involved him, why not just come out and give away $100?
Yeah, makes sense.
Sgt. Slaughter
This man can still go in the ring. I can already see him singing the national anthem and Alberto Del Rio interrupting. That tactic shouldn't be used at live events, but it works on national television.
Hillbilly Jim
This just seems like an extra plug for the "Legends House" coming out this year. I understand WWE wants to promote it this week, but this is just too obvious. Let Jim appear backstage!
Howard Finkel
Sorry Lilian. I love you being back and all, but let The Fink announce for one show. That would be a real treat for fans watching the live special on Tuesday.
Besides, who can forget the epic Garcia vs. Finkel feud in 2002?
Jimmy Hart
This one may be the most intriguing. With Rosa Mendes stealing the spotlight from every segment she is in, Sakamoto being ringside and Abraham Washington appearing, it seems like a few managers are on these days.
I can't imagine Jimmy Hart returning full time. However, the man was born to be ringside during matches. If he finds a perfect fit, the sky is the limit.
In the end, I tried to find logical places for all these legends. Some will work out well Tuesday. Others will likely not work at all. That is why you watch, folks...
You just never know.
