Despite his tender age, M’Vila has emerged as a favourite of French national team boss Laurent Blanc and already has 18 international caps to his credit. He has drawn rave reviews this season for his performances for both France and his club Rennes.
M’Vila is a defensive midfielder that possesses an impressive physical presence and plays with a maturity beyond his years. Desailly believes the Premier League would be the perfect platform for M’Vila to hone his skills.
“Arsenal is probably a stable club where he can have a bit of time or [Manchester] United where he has time to assimilate the changing of clubs and start slowly to perform,” said Desailly.
“He needs to come to the Barclays Premier League. We want him in this competition because it is the best, first of all, and he can really develop his skills. It is for players who like to play with tempo.”
M’Vila is one of the hottest young players in Europe and his signature promises to be an expensive one for any club lucky enough to land him this summer. Desailly, for one, however, believes M’Vila is more than capable of justifying any such hefty price tag.
“I would just say that if I was the chairman of a Premier League club I would just close my eyes and put the figure on the cheque to get him,” Desailly said.
“Because he is really the future. The talent is there. It is obvious.”
Comparisons with Vieira are sure to excite Arsenal and United fans. He was a dominant player in the Premier League for a decade at Arsenal.
Both teams currently have a perceived weakness in midfield. Arsenal have struggled to replace former stars Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri while Manchester United have stalwarts Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs nearing the end of their illustrious careers.
Yann M’Vila is exactly the type of player both teams would like to sign to bolster their ranks for next season.
