WWE Breaking News: **SMACKDOWN SPOILERS** for This Friday

John AtkinsCorrespondent IIIApril 4, 2012

Wrestlemania is truly behind us, but the fallout from Sunday's event is still very much at the forefront of WWE programming going forward.

Monday's Raw was probably the best installment we've seen since the inception of the PG Era, and this Friday's Smackdown, therefore, has a great deal of hype to live up to.

As everyone knows, [the vast majority] of Smackdown episodes are filmed on a Tuesday; so, without further ado, here are the spoilers for last night's taping;

(WARNING: Contains Spoilers!)

David Otunga & Mark Henry def. R-Truth (Handicap Match)

The show opens with John Laurinaitis continuing his post-Wrestlemania celebration, pitting one member of Teddy Long's face team against two of the more imposing members of Team Johnny. Otunga picks up the pinfall.

Randy Orton def. Kane (No DQ)

I was surprised when Orton jobbed clean on Sunday, so this takes the feud to 1-1. Expect Orton to come out on top at Extreme Rules.

Ryback def. Local jobber

Ryback's erm... back!
Ryback's erm... back!

For those who don't know, Ryback is the new incarnation of the former Nexus powerhouse Skip Sheffield (before he got a nasty ankle injury). Straight forward squash match, with no real indication of face/heel tendencies. A good week for debuts/returns!

Daniel Bryan promo (Dumps A.J.)

How awesome is D-Bry!? I never used to like this guy, but now he's come full circle heel by dumping his adoring girlfriend A.J. Despite this, the fans continue to get behind the American Dragon ("Yes! Yes! Yes!" heard throughout), so it would be fair to say he'll be sticking around the main event scene for a good while.

Big Show def. Heath Slater

No, thankfully the One Man Rock Band is not in contention to be Show's first challenger for the IC title. Another bathroom break squash match to make Show look dominant. It will be interesting to see who the first challenger for the World's Largest Athlete will be though...? My guess is Kane, when he's done with Orton.

Nicki Bella def. Beth Phoenix

Shocking. A squash match the wrong way round. This probably means nondescript twin gets a Divas Title shot. Poor effort WWE. Get Kharma/Layla/Trish back now!

Alberto Del Rio def. Sheamus

I think we all saw this coming. Any match leading to a title shot for a returning star usually sees them pick up the win and no different here. ADR pulled an old school Eddie Guerrero (R.I.P) chair shot in this match to get the champ disqualified. Sheamus went on to knock out the referee post-match.

So a new feud over the WHC looks to be set, should be a good one (I think?), but expect the Celtic Warrior to be in for the long haul at the top of the Blue Brand.
