5 Middleweight Prospects the UFC Should Sign

1 of 6

We continue in the "Prospects the UFC Should Sign" series, which will take us division by division as we look the top prospects that should be signed by the UFC.

The middleweight division has been dominated by one man for a long time, that being Anderson Silva. Although the middleweight division has a number of elite fighter with diverse backgrounds, it is still in need of some new faces.

The addition of new, talented prospects is necessary for every division, but especially for a division starving for a new star. Let's take a look at five prospects who should be signed and developed by the UFC.

Note: Bellator and Strikeforce fighters were not included.

Uriah Hall

2 of 6

A Bellator veteran who has spent the vast majority of his career in Ring of Combat, Uriah Hall has shown to be a very promising prospect.

The Team Tiger Schulmann representative is currently 6-2, finishing all of his opponents. His only two losses come from fast-rising UFC middleweights Chris Weidman and Constantinos Philippou.

He is an extremely dangerous striker, but he has submission skills as well, which were showcased by his latest victory, a heel hook.

A talented prospect with a lot of upside, Hall should be signed soon.

Tom Watson

Perhaps he is outside the "prospect" bubble, but nonetheless, Tom Watson is very deserving of a spot on the UFC roster. The BAMMA middleweight champ is well-rounded and very entertaining to watch.

Watson has a great deal of experience, holding a professional record of 15-4. Seven of his wins came by knockout, which shows his striking is to be reckoned with. He has knocked off notables Jack Marshman, Murilo Rua, Matt Horwich and John Maguire, so he has obviously been taking tough fights.

Elvis Mutapcic

4 of 6

A fighter whose amateur career started off unpromising, Elvis Mutapcic has quickly become a prospect to look out for in the middleweight division. Although going 0-3 as an amateur, he has righted the ship and become a winner.

Mutapcic is 10-2, with all but one of his wins coming by knockout or submission. He has not been finished himself, either. He holds wins over Zak Cummings and Cezar "Mutante" Ferreira, a cast member of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.

He also has a pretty cool name.

Chaun Sims

5 of 6

Still young and somewhat inexperienced in his career, Chaun Sims has a very promising future at the rate he is going.

The 5-2 Sims has only been a professional for three years, but he has taken on some solid competition. His only losses were to Cezar "Mutante" Ferreira and Andreas Spang, both respectable MMA fighters themselves.

Sims could benefit from the bright lights of the UFC to gain experience and skill.

Jake Rosholt

6 of 6

A man who has already had a stint in the UFC, it is time to bring back Jake Rosholt, who is very promising and belongs in the UFC.

It has been almost three years since Rosholt has stepped into a UFC Octagon, but in the time since, he has been very productive. The Team Takedown representative is 12-3 (1 NC) thus far in his career, finishing all but one of his opponents. He holds notable victories over Matt Horwich, Chris Leben and Nissen Osterneck.

Bringing Rosholt back would only boost the middleweight division.
