Penguins-Rangers: Marc-Andre Fleury Blanks New York at Igloo

The Pittsburgh Penguins came up with a huge win at the Igloo in front of a very vocal crowd this afternoon.

NBC is a joke. Is there a rule in the NHL rulebook that Pierre Maguire doesn't want to change?

Pierre suggested that the NHL do away with fighting, issue more four minute penalties, and provide a three year subscription to Rogaine for Men in his contract extension.

Tyler Kennedy knocked in a goal and Chris Minard scored his first of the season in the first period.

I've been bashing Minard lately, so it's good to see him get a point on the board. He was solid today.
Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 33 shots to earn his second shutout of the season.
Flower has played fantastically in his last two starts. If the Pens are going to make a successful playoff push, MAF has to be a stalwart every night.
But, no pressure or anything.

Petr Hood had a goal and an assist today. The goal came on the power play, as if you didn't assume that already.
Ryan Whitney made a pass that Wade Redden still hasn't figured out yet from blue-line to blue-line to Sykora to spring him in alone on Lundqvist for the goal.

Rozsival actually didn't score a goal against Pittsburgh. Shocking.

Wade Redden might be the worst defensemen in the National Hockey League. He has an unreal salary, which I didn't feel like looking up for fear that I might demolish my esophagus from excessive vomiting.

Evgeni Malkin and Nikolai Zherdev exchanged pleasantries a few times this afternoon. Malkin hit Zherdev hard behind the Rangers' net, Zherdev came back at Malkin in the open ice with a solid check, but Malkin was penalized for getting his stick up into Zherdev's face.
Something is going on with the Russians of the NHL. Who cares what it is, it's fun as hell to watch, but just imagine what's going to happen when all of these guys potentially play on the same team at the Winter Olympics.
The Rangers proved today that they will only go as far as Henrik Lundqvist will take them in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Their defense is mediocre at best and besides Zherdev they don't have a superstar forward.

Huge day for Pittsburgh sports today. The Pens did their part this afternoon, the Eagles are currently continuing their streak of incapability of winning a big game.
So here's hoping the Steel Curtain falls on the Ravens tonight.
