Kansas City Royals: One Move Until Being Set for '09 Season

With spring training only a couple months from now, most major league teams have their line-up set.

But, for the Royals, I believe Dayton Moore will still have to make one more move. The Royals are very crowded in the outfield.

They have Jose Guillen, Coco Crisp, David DeJesus, Mark Teahan, and Mitch Maier, just to name a few.

At this point, with most of the big name free agents already signing with teams, the Royals will have to trade. An ideal trade for the Royals would be getting rid of Guillen, DeJesus, or Maier for a veteran middle infielder or a pitcher.

Not many teams are going to want to take on Jose Guillen's massive contract. David DeJesus probably has the most value for in return. Mitch Maier probably won't get you too much in return but if we could package him and a first baseman (another position that is crowded), we could get some solid talent in return.

I like the enthusiasm that DeJesus brings to the table, and I don't expect Dayton Moore to trade him unless a team gives him an offer that not even Dayton could reject.

Some reports have said Dayton Moore has been shopping Zack Grienke, the ace of the Royals ball club. I believe Dayton would be foolish to deal Grienke away. He has way too much talent to part ways with, and he's only 25 years old!

The Royals signed Mr. Versatility Willie Bloomquist, but I would like to see the Royals get a more solid shortstop. Callaspo could prove me wrong but right now he dosen't strike me as an everyday shortstop.

Bloomquist can play just about every position and I think he will at some point during the year. Right now, as a Royals fan, I hope Alberto Callaspo can beat out Bloomquist just so we can see what he has. I would love for Tre Hillman to plug in Bloomquist whenever he is needed.

So with all of that being said, GO ROYALS, and let's have a great upcoming season.
