Since being in the main event of last year's WrestleMania against John Cena, The Miz's star has plummeted into the depths of oblivion.
He hasn't won a singles match since December 2011 and has, for the most part, been languishing in mid-card purgatory.
One would think that the former "Awesome One"—who is gratingly unspectacular these days—would be left off the WrestleMania 28 card altogether.
While he won't wrestle at the Miami extravaganza, PWInsider.com is reporting—via 411Mania.com—that The Miz will likely play a part in The Rock versus John Cena bout:
As previously reported, it's rumored that The Miz will be involved in The Rock vs. John Cena match at WrestleMania 28 in some capacity. Miz successfully defended the WWE Title against Cena at WrestleMania 27, and the company is said to have a storyline ready for The Miz after WrestleMania. His recent losing streak is said to be part of the groundwork for the storyline.
Suffice it to say, given how The Miz is now largely seen as an unfunny joke among WWE fans, it probably wouldn't be wise to interject him into The Rock versus John Cena match.
Even if he were to just interfere during the clash—as a callback to WrestleMania 27—The Miz's mere presence would simply sully the most publicized encounter in recent memory.
The fans deserve to watch Cena and The Rock wrestle without any distractions, interference or tomfoolery. It needs to be a suspenseful back-and-forth duel to determine who really is the cream of the crop.
The Miz, who is comparable to the stubborn residue at the bottom of a cup, would only be the unnecessary third wheel—who would catastrophically offset the balance of the other two.
So, for all intents and purposes, if the WWE wants to start rehabilitating The Miz's character, then it should be done after April 1.
Historically, WrestleMania has been a platform for the WWE's best superstars in any given year.
Needless to say, The Miz has been among the worst in the last year and should therefore not be featured in any fashion.
