Game Recap

January 12, 2009

Manuel Almunia (6): Again looked nervy at times. Was quite a boring match for the shot stopper but did do the job when needed.

Bacary Sagna (6.5): Not his strongest performance but did what was asked of him.

Johan Djourou (7.5): A solid game from the youngster. Defended well and looked confident against the Bolton forwards.

Kolo Toure (7.5): Like his center half partner was solid and confident and could have easily got his name on the score sheet.

Gael Clichy (7): Set up van Persie who set up Bendtner for the winner. Kept Davies quiet for most of the game and proved useful in attack.

Emmanuel Eboue (6): Did not really spark anything and did not appear confident with the ball.

Denilson (6.5): His passes were astray and he was lazy in defence. Showed some flashes, though.

Abou Diaby (6): No surprise to see him substituted as it was a mediocre performance.

Samir Nasri (8): Was impressive and creative. His passing was superb and easily should have had a goal or assist to his name.

Robin van Persie (8): Another top performance from the in-form Dutchman. Created chances for himself and was unlucky not to have a goal.

Emmanuel Adebayor (6): He looked shy and hesitant when near goal.

Substitutes

Carlos Vela (6): For once got a chance to play and he did not do too badly.

Nicklas Bendtner (7): Scored a beautiful goal and got Arsenal home.

Aaron Ramsey: N/A

Vela totally changed the game when he came in. He got to the end line and caused trouble in the Bolton defence which opened them up enough for us to finally score. Vela: 7.5.

I liked Vela's intelligence. In injury time he thought to take the ball into their corner to wind the clock down. It's that kind of gamesmanship and presence of mind that's been missing since the great Henry.
