EPL: Arsenal Finding Victories When It Matters Most

Kyle DegabJun 7, 2018

After a very up-and-down English and European seasons, Arsenal FC seem to be on the up when it is most necessary for the club's survival.

Arsenal may have very well saved their season with two huge victories in the past two weeks.  With three points earned against both Tottenham and Liverpool, Arsenal look to stay among the top four in England.

However, they are also receiving a ton of help from a struggling Chelsea side.  As the table stands today, Arsenal stands three points clear of fourth with Chelsea and Newcastle nipping at their heels.

The fourth and final Champions League spot seems to be Arsenal's to loose.  They are finally back on a winning stretch and they are winning when it matters most, against teams that directly threaten their EPL survival.

I, for one, have been a great doubter in Arsenal's potential this year, having previously written articles "EPL: Arsenal's Wenger Going Down with the Ship" and "Arsenal: Why Their EPL Season Will Still Be a Disaster."  Although I still have doubts that they can maintain this form, I am extremely impressed over their last two victories, especially the victory over Tottenham.

Arsenal will have the second leg of their UEFA Champions League match against Milan midweek.  It should be very interesting to see what type of team Wenger puts on the pitch, given their previous defeat and the fact that they have probably their biggest game of the EPL season next Sunday against Newcastle.

At this point, the UCL should (hopefully) be out of the mind of Wenger and Arsenal fans.  Three points against Newcastle would definitely be a huge determining factor of Arsenal's fate.

It has been a challenging year for Arsenal, but if they can hold onto this final top-four spot, the team can put this season behind them and come back healthy and hopefully with signings for next season.
