Pitt Football: Former Wisconsin Quarterback Brooks Bollinger Headed to Pitt?

It's been a busy week for new Pitt head coach Paul Chryst as he's been busy reshuffling his coaching staff by promoting Joe Rudolph to offensive coordinator and Jim Hueber to offensive line coach.

With spring practice set to begin on March 15, Chryst is left with only two voids to fill on his staff, a quarterbacks and a running backs coach.

According to Paul Zeise at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Chryst is close to filling one of those needs.

Chryst is close to bringing in a quarterbacks coach by turning to a familiar face in former Wisconsin quarterback Brooks Bollinger.

Bollinger had a record of 30-12 as a starter and led the Badgers to three bowl victories, including the 2000-01 Rose Bowl while playing at Wisconsin from 2000-03.

He was a sixth-round draft pick of the New York Jets in 2003 and played in the NFL for seven seasons, also suiting up for the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings, before retiring from football in 2011.

Bollinger finished up his playing career in the UFL, playing two seasons for the Florida Tuskers, leading the Tuskers to the 2009 UFL championship game, winning the league's MVP.

Currently, Bollinger is the head coach at Hill Murray High School in St. Paul, Minn.

If Bollinger accepts the job, it's a good hire by Chryst.

Having a guy that's won at the collegiate level in the ear of Tino Sunseri and even freshman Chad Voytik can only serve as a positive for the Panthers down the road.
