Today marked the day that we all were supposed to see where Davonte Neal, a top-tier prospect from Arizona, was headed for college. Neal spoke routinely about February 21st being his announcement date.
Yours truly even woke up earlier than usual for work today, eagerly awaiting Neal's announcement. However, Neal has not shown up at his press conference, and many people are in shock at his apparent decision not to announce today.
Come inside, and let's see what's the latest.
Who Is Davonte Neal?
Neal is a 4-star WR/CB from Arizona who plays the perimeter extremely well offensively and defensively.
Perhaps the fastest player in Arizona, Davonte Neal is a solid downfield threat.
He gets behind a secondary with ease, as the 5'9", 175-pounder explodes off the line in his release and eats up cushion in a hurry as a receiver.
Neal also has the hips, foot quickness and mirror ability to play CB on defense. His speed, explosion and instincts with the ball also allow him to be a great return man.
Who Are the Finalists?

The prime four schools for Neal are Arkansas, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Arizona. Neal has taken trips to all four schools, and these four have emerged as the finalists.
However, according to Fox Sports Arizona, the true race for Neal is between Notre Dame and Arizona. So this appears to be a battle between saying home vs. heading to South Bend.
Why the No-Show?
It would be fitting for a delayed announcement to have drama and more delay, wouldn't it?
Well, that's exactly what has happened. Neal has yet to come to his press conference, and reports and rumors are swirling as to why.
The believed reason for Neal's no-show seems to be that Davonte wants to stay home and play at Arizona, but his father wants him to go to Notre Dame.
Stay tuned as we continue to give you the latest as it develops on Davonte Neal's decision day.
