Rumors have swirled for months about the possible appearance of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal at WrestleMania 28 in Miami, but nothing had been confirmed. That was, until Shaq decided to let the cat out of the bag early during his appearance at Cartoon Network Hall of Game Awards.

Should WWE Have Shaq at WrestleMania?

When asked about the constant rumors about a possible match at the biggest WWE show of the year, Shaq told the Hollywood Life, “Yes I’ll be there!”

Finally, the news that no one was waiting on is finally etched in stone. The only problem is that, in the WWE world, nothing is set in stone. Just ask Funkasaurus.

As good as the media attention a match involving Shaq could be, if this news wasn’t supposed to come out yet, Vince McMahon and the WWE brass wouldn’t be above dumping the whole idea. The company has done things like that in the past, but the anticipation of this may be big enough to have the Chairman of the Board relax and let this happen.

While no partner or opponent has been confirmed, the speculation has been that it would be Big Show working with the former NBA star. All of the size between those two men would make it an amazing site.

We also can't forget that the two already have a history. Shaq was on a few editions of Raw in 2009, where he feuded with the Big Show and Chris Jericho. While it wasn’t the greatest celebrity appearance, it was definitely better than most.

There is also a chance that they could get the Great Khali involved in this match as well. That would be a nice way to add another element that is pleasing to the casual fan’s eye while keeping Khali out of any match that has any kind of relevance.

Many hardcore fans may hate these celebrity appearances, and I will admit, many are flat-out terrible. But Shaq is funny and will sell this well.

With his previous experience, I think it’s a no-brainer for WWE to make this happen at WrestleMania.
