Florida received news on Saturday, when it learned that Kelvin Taylor, a top-tier RB prospect and son of former Gator great Fred Taylor, was committing to UF.

How big is this for the Gators? What does this mean for UF recruiting in 2013?

Well, we're going to take a look at that and more of Kelvin Taylor's big pledge to play in Gainesville. Come inside, and let's Gator Chomp this news up.

Who Is Kelvin Taylor?

Taylor is Fred Taylor's son, and like his father, he's a rock toter. He's on of the top RB prospects in the Sunshine State and nationally.

He stands  5'10", weighs 205 pounds and has good speed. Taylor is already the all-time leading rusher in Florida high school football as he bested Emmitt Smith this past season at 9,698 yards.

Taylor combines elite lateral quickness, balance, explosion, run strength, power and tackle-breaking ability with vision, athleticism and instincts to make himself an elite offensive weapon.

"It was really close between Alabama and Florida," Taylor told ESPN's GatorNation.

Alabama was close to nabbing another great RB prospect, but in the end, comfort level and the Gator coaching staff swayed him to Gainesville.

Taylor also stated his dad never really influenced him to attend his alma mater.

Taylor is the second RB for 2013 to pledge to UF and is the eighth player to tell Will Muschamp he'll be playing for him next fall.

This gives Florida another type of back that can play with 2012 signee Matt Jones and sophomore Mack Brown.

Toss in Adam Lane, another 2013 RB commit and you can see Florida is making sure there is no shortage of wealth to tote the rock.

What's Next for Taylor?

According GatorNation, Taylor will now turn his efforts towards helping Florida recruit more top 2013 prospects to be Gators.

"I'm going to try and recruit all of them," Taylor stated.

If his recruiting skills are as good as he is a RB, this could be another great cycle for Florida recruiting.
