WWE Elimination Chamber 2012: Why This Event Needs More Hype
Elimination Chamber is tomorrow night, folks and that means only one little roadblock left until WrestleMania XXVIII and its month-and-a-half of pure excitement.
I hope it passes by real fast because there has hardly been any emphasis on this show at all. The pay-per-view only has four matches advertised, to me that means WWE doesn't really care about it since the big one is coming.
Here is a look at the current card:

Doesn't it feel like this show has "Capitol Punishment look-a-like" written all over? It has hardly been hyped at all. No doubt the buy rates will suffer tremendously.
Unlike previous editions, there were no qualifying matches to determine the participants of each chamber. An unfortunate mistake in my book as it spices things up and you really get the feeling something good will happen.
Now, the only feeling I get is the WWE trying to keep the titles warm on their holders because WrestleMania's championship matches are already booked.
Switching a title for a month is stupid! There, I said it. CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are going in the right direction; putting a stop to that now would be ridiculous. They're on a roll.
The John Cena- Kane feud has been far less exciting than I had hoped. It showed great promise when the company seemed to hint at their hero's turn to darkness but after everything so far, I don't see that happening.
It's okay really, John Cena doesn't have to become a full-fledged villain. The amount of boos he gets now is music to my ears and the sound will be deafening come April 1 in Miami. Everything is meant to be as is for a reason and if Cena is changing his gimmick just a little, then it is a good thing.
Too bad for poor Kane, though. His new incarnation will be buried under the immense power of Superman.
An Ambulance match? Come on! Why such a weak gimmick? Give fans something else like an "Inferno" match or something like that. Something to make everyone believe in Kane's mastery of darkness. If he is on his last run, then make him go out in style.
One positive thing about this show is: the Divas championship match.
Besides the WWE championship chamber, this is the only other one I care about because it features Beth Phoenix, in a strong position, taking on a second-generation athlete in Tamina Snuka. Long have I waited for them to be put in the same program.
At first I though they would rule the world as part of the Divas of Doom but now, this is an unexpected twist. The only negative thing here is Tamina's role is but a filler one.
Don't get me wrong, I hope her push goes a long way but with Kharma waiting in the wings, I do not see WWE taking the title off of the Glamazon just yet. Poor Natalya will just have to wait patiently for her "flatulence" to pass before she gets a crack at the butterfly.
Let's not go into that...it is a horrible angle and insults me and every fan out there who believe in the Hart heiress.
On a positive note, it will be nice to see a real Divas match for one. Two powerful women taking it to each other like in the days of old...here's hoping.
If the company expects people to dish out the moolah for a show placed between the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania, they will have to do a better job at getting them interested.
If I didn't write for a sports news website, I probably wouldn't even watch this Elimination Chamber thingy. Isn't that depressing when you think about it? A lifelong fan NOT interested in a pay-per-view...a sad world it is indeed.
It is always like that, year after year. February is just a bad month. In restaurants and for WWE shows. Why put one here? Just build up the show of shows from the moment the Royal Rumble starts.
The bottom line about WWE pay-per-views is this: Hype them up and make them ALL memorable or else just keep them off the calendar, as quality far exceeds quantity.
On that note, here's one writer wishing you fans a very good show tomorrow night and let's start the countdown to Mania with a bang!
