NHL Trade Rumors: Rick Nash and Stars Philadelphia Flyers Are Chasing

With the 2012 NHL trade deadline just days away, there are many teams rumored to be active, none more than the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Flyers have a fancy for winning and starting from the very top with owner Ed Snider down to the lowest position in the company, everyone wants the best for the franchise and will do what it takes to get there.
As they say, you can’t make an omelet without cracking a few eggs. Thus, this trade deadline, Philly will be cracking some major trade eggs.
With Players is the Best Trade Option?
With news that the Columbus Blue Jackets had high-ranking officials at Saturday’s Flyers game, including general manager Scott Howson, the seriousness of the Rick Nash to Philadelphia talk has set in.
When two GMs get together for a meeting like this, there is usually something brewing under the surface and this time is no different.
With Columbus and Philadelphia having a long-standing trade relationship that was exercised just last season with the Jeff Carter trade, this is a serious move that could see Nash in Philly before the deadline.

Thought to be just as unlikely as the Nash deal, the Philadelphia Flyers have been kicking the tires on both Nashville defenseman that will become free agents, Ryan Suter and Shea Weber.
It was obvious to the Flyers that Suter would be the cheaper get from the Nashville Predators, who they too have a history of trading with, instead of their captain Shea Weber.
While the Predators franchise has remained steadfast on their stance when it comes to not trading the defenders before the deadline, a sweet enough deal may be exactly what the team was waiting for. It’s all in how you play the game.
Pavel Kubina

While Pavel Kubina may not be the biggest star on this list, there may be no better fit for what the team needs and the price they are willing to pay.
With Darren Dreger considering the Philadelphia Flyers contenders in the Kubina sweepstakes, the team would be adding a stellar defensive defenseman that plays well on the penalty kill and can eat major minutes if needed.
At a much lower cost than either Nash or Suter, Philly may anger the fans by their lack of moves, but will get one of the best deals at the deadline.
