Chelsea FC: 5 Players the Blues Must Ditch in the Summer

Chelsea is in fifth place when it comes to its English Premier League position, just behind Arsenal, who're having a torrid time themselves.

It's certainly not for fun for their manager, André Villas-Boas, with Roman Abramovich's propensity of firing managers indiscriminately. Is the manager walking on thin ice?

That certainly seems to be the case with Chelsea out of the running for a Champions League spot if their position in the Premier League remains the same, considering the three-year revamp of the team.

Speaking of revamp, several players have gone during the January window, and it looks more are on their way out, for whatever reasons.

So, here are five players that Chelsea should ditch when the next opportunity comes up in July summer transfer window...

Player No. 1: Didier Drogba

Didier Drogba is 33. He's Chelsea's all-time top scorer. And he's done with the African Cup of Nations. Keeping his age in mind, it looks like he's going to leave Chelsea to Shenhua in China, making space for Fernando Torres, if only in June.

It's time to bid adieu to a man that has "done his time"...and respectfully!

Player No. 2: Fernando Torres

Fernando Torres has struggled to score ever since he moved from Liverpool for a record sum of 50 million pounds.

Some people believe that Drogba should go in order for him to "shine." And some people think that he and AVB (Chelsea's manager) should go too...

Player No. 3: Salomon Kalou

It's been about six years since Salomon Kalou moved to Chelsea, and with much promise too. Sadly, even after so many years, he hasn't improved or make good on the talent that he showed with his previous club.

Arsenal, West Ham and God knows who else want him in their side! Chelsea supporters think differently, of course...

Player No. 4: Jose Bosingwa

Jose Bosingwa has come under attack from fans for being sloppy in defence despite a goal against Swansea in their recent match.

By refusing to extend his contract with Chelsea, it seems as if his exit will be a natural one.

Player No. 5: Florent Malouda

As fans comment, the only difference between Malouda and Bosingwa is that what the former brings to the field is negative, and he's still got more than a year on his contract with Chelsea.

Could we see him leave along with the likes of Anelka among others from the Mourinho era?
