The ongoing saga of Jerry Sandusky and his pending sexual abuse charges continues to unfold in odd ways. A new report issues that he can now visit with his own grandchildren and comes on the heels of a week of misery.
A CBS News report cites Jerry Sandusky has been given permission to see most of his grandchildren while he awaits trial.
Another crucial aspect of the report is Sandusky has been given permission to pick a jury from the State College area as well.
Sandusky had been asking for bail restrictions to be decreased to allow for visitation rights. He can now see his grandchildren under their parents' supervision. Three grandchildren who are the subject of custody litigation will not be included in the ruling.
An ABC News report quotes Judge John Cleland who denied prosecutor's motion for Sandusky to remain completely home bound after implications of him watching children from his front porch. Judge Cleland stated:
No evidence was presented that at any time the defendant made any effort to contact any of the children by signaling or calling to them, or that he made any gestures directed toward them, or that he acted in any inappropriate way whatsoever.
This comes on the heels of a bizarre week in which the nation was reminded that Sandusky lives right next to an elementary school.
Should Jerry Sandusky be granted permission to see his grandchildren?
Sandusky has been reading the temperature of the nation incorrectly from the start. The time for him to be folksy and win over any amount of support died a long time ago.
While he can now pick from a jury of his peers in the State College area, there is no way that he finds one person who has not been inundated with news on Sandusky or has formed a solid opinion of the man.
This sick story continues to spiral nearly out of control. From an interview by Bob Costas a couple months ago that gave the nation chills to a week-long tale of Sandusky enjoying the view from his porch that sits next to a school, there is no amount of this tale that makes sense.
