Dallas Cowboys: What Is Tony Romo Thinking Playing Golf with Tiger Woods?

Manik AggarwalJun 7, 2018

Eli Manning just led his team to victory in Super Bowl XLVI. Tony Romo led his team through a monumental December collapse.

Eli has two Super Bowl rings. Tony has one playoff win.

Eli is on the media circuit these days touting his Super Bowl win. Tony is playing golf at Pebble Beach with Tiger Woods.

Wait. What?

Having hobbies and taking advantage of the offseason is a must for a professional football player. You must take your mind off of football here and there and be able to enjoy yourself.

But, as a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan, this is a hard pill to swallow.

Although Romo had the best year of his career statistically, there are obvious improvements that need to be made on the Cowboys offense: better timing with oft-injured Miles Austin, better red-zone efficiency with Jason Witten and better protection from a suspect offensive line.

Additionally, the offense requires working with Jason Garrett to avoid poor play-calling, and working with newly-hired offensive coordinator Bill Callahan to straighten things out.

While one NFC East quarterback earned the right to head to Disney World and make appearances on ESPN and late-night talk shows, another NFC East quarterback is inappropriately lollygagging with celebrities on a golf course.

Romo's desire to win is there, his toughness is there, but Eli obviously does something that Tony does not do.

It is easy to suggest that the Giants' killer defensive line is the reason they win games. However, after an astounding streak in the playoffs this year, during which Eli played lights-out in each game, this Super Bowl win was Eli’s as much as it was the Giants’ defensive line's.

Can Romo duplicate that kind of success? He is certainly capable of it. But it definitely does not start with playing a round of golf with Tiger Woods.
