St. Louis Rams: News, Nuggets and Notes at Noon (Thursday Edition)

Shane GrayJun 7, 2018

Thank you for checking out all the latest St. Louis Rams headlines here at the spot for quick updates on all major Rams' news in today's "News, Nuggets and Notes at Noon."

The ongoing general manager search continues as St. Louis is reportedly set to interview a tenth candidate today, Omar Khan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Khan, 35, is considered one of the top young NFL executives and would work alongside Rams Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Football Operations Kevin Demoff, who is himself only in his thirties.

Khan is known as a "capologist" and is well respected around the league and a favorite of former Steelers' head coach Bill Cowher.

Assistant head coach Dave McGinnis is excited to work with Fisher again, as he did in Tennessee.  He shares his thoughts regarding his role with the Rams and Fisher in this interview from stltoday.com.

In that same article, it is reported that Fisher plans to retain two holdovers from former head coach Steve Spagnuolo's staff: quality control/offensive assistant Andy Sugarma and strength coach Rock Gullickson.

In a piece from Jeff Gordon of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Gordon explains why St. Louis must build a program and not just a team.  Fisher must start with constructing the right foundation and go from there.

One piece to building a great foundation and a great team will hopefully be Jerome Murphy, a 2010 third-round pick who missed all of least season with an ankle injury.

Murphy was projected to be the Rams nickle corner in 2011 and is a physical defender who hits hard in run support.

I interacted with Murphy via Twitter and also interviewed his collegiate defensive backs coach, Rich Rachel of the University of South Florida.

I think you will enjoy the article and the analysis therein.  I encourage you to take a look at it here

For video footage of Murphy, take a look at this from nfl.com.

Finally, the St. Louis Rams commemorated Black History Month by bringing in Reverend Samuel "Billy" Kyles to share his account of the final hour he spent with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Have a great day, St. Louis Rams nation.
