Sean Rodriguez a Must-Follow on Twitter for Tampa Bay Rays Fans
Sean Rodriguez would be an early favorite for a Tampa Bay Rays Twitter rookie of the year, if such an award existed. The Rays infielder is coming up on only his first month on the popular social networking site has made quite the impact with the team’s fan base on the site.
If it weren’t for his responses to fans wishing him well for the upcoming season and chats with his fellow teammates, it would be hard to tell Rodriguez is a major league ballplayer. The bulk of his tweets seem like normal conversation among friends or strangers connected through Twitter.
That is probably the attribute that sets him apart from other athletes. Fans are constantly looking for ways to connect and feel closer to the players on their favorite teams. It’s not a surprise that Rodriguez is a natural tweeter as the Rays organization seems to be pumping out tweeters at the same proficiency as its generated starting pitchers.
In under a month he has been on what can only be described as a Twitter rampage, already tweeting over 1,100 times. It will be exciting to see his reactions and tweets after memorable moments this season. It would have been nice to see his reactions after this moment last season.
Although his pace will likely decline rapidly once spring training and the regular season start, it has been an exciting beginning. Rays fans should enjoy the opportunity to chit, chat and tweet with a very personable major league player.
