WWE Elimination Chamber 2012: CM Punk Needs to Retain WWE Title
While many people think that Chris Jericho should walk away from Elimination Chamber champion, there is no way CM Punk can lose the WWE Title right now.
WrestleMania is a different story, though.
As much as this will anger the fans of the WWE, the Elimination Chamber for Raw is nothing more than a holdover until the big storyline twist at WrestleMania.
I understand that fans want to see Punk chasing the title, but we could be on the brink of one of the greatest swerves in WWE history. Follow with me on this voyage of madness.
Is this Idea Dumb?
With Punk retaining the belt over Jericho, the WWE would be able to set up an angle where Jericho seems like a snake heel. If he looks like weasel in how he interacts with Punk and the ways he attacks him, it will make the eventual swerve amazing. The next month will be soaked in a verbal conflict between Punk and Jericho that leads to a Punk loss on the biggest stage of them all.
So why would I have Punk lose at WrestleMania instead of Elimination Chamber?
Ted DiBiase Jr., duh!
My idea is that Chris Jericho has to pull an Andre the Giant and win the WWE Title from CM Punk in an epic match, then promptly sell it to the new Million Dollar Man. I know it sounds far-fetched, but follow closely.
Jericho would win the belt and then promptly sell it, which would make him one of the ultimate heels in WWE history. It would also turn DiBiase heel, where he could be something. The idea of DiBiase working with Jericho is the perfect rub for a young guy that could become a star in the limelight of Y2J and Punk.
Punk may lose at WrestleMania, but this is where John Laurinaitis would come in as well. Johnny Ace would come out after Jericho sells the belt to Lil’ Million Dollar Man and give it back to Punk. That causes the hard feelings that moves this feud past WrestleMania.
It’s a win-win situation with Punk walking away with the title, Jericho winning and DiBiase getting an enormous push and rub. It would be an epic ending.
