Cars.com Super Bowl Commercial: 'Confident You' Spot Will Have Fans Cracking Up

Patrick ClarkeFeb 5, 2012

Cars.com decided to take the route of special effects, once again, this year for their Super Bowl Sunday game day commercial.

The "Confident You" spot deserves some attention and love, and it will certainly get some from the millions of viewers during it's television premiere on Sunday evening.

This hilarious ad, which runs about 30 seconds, features a talking head representing the potential carbuyer's confidence, who excitingly sings his owner into asking for the keys.

Now that's humor nearly everyone can understand and appreciate.

Past Cars.com ads utilized similar effects, like these two from last year's Super Bowl, but they were hardly used as effectively.

The animated talking cars idea was a unique attempt at humor, but fell far short of this year's ad, which uses pure stupidity with a Men in Black touch to keep us smiling right up through the commercial break.

There's nothing quite like a singing head, especially when we are only subjected to it for 30 seconds.

Personally, the humor-driven Super Sunday ads seem to stick with me the most. Snickers and E*TRADE commercials have built a legacy of funny game day spots and, now we can add Cars.com to that list in 2012.

It's nice to get a break from the tension and high stakes of the Super Bowl with some good laughs. Not too many corporations and advertisers realize that though, and often times we are forced to sit through over-thought attempts at humor that leave us feeling more uncomfortable than satisfied.
