Super Bowl 2012: Recipes To Spice Up Any Super Sunday Party

With the Super Bowl just a few hours away, the rush for the stragglers to get all of the ingredients for their Super Sunday party is on.

It’s easy to run into the grocery store and buy a bag of chips or stop at a take-out place for pizza, but it takes a labor of love to wine and dine your friends and family.

All of the following foods and recipes are found anywhere on the Internet, but I have tried the following and they are bound to work. I guarantee it!

Buffalo Wings

The key to the best Buffalo wings recipe will be cooking the chicken wings enough. Always follow what the packaging says in order to make sure they are completely cooked.

Many people deep fry their wings, but I use two aluminum trays to bake my wings. Poke small holes in one of the trays and then fill it with the wings. Place the other aluminum tray one rack below the wings so that all the moisture can drip out into the other tray. This will get rid of much of the grease and have more of a deep-fried feel without the extra calories.

After the wings are cooked for the appropriate time, remove them from the oven and separate those that will be sauced and those that won’t. Don’t forget that some people can’t eat hot foods.

As far as sauce goes, I order my sauce from Buffalo, New York’s Anchor Bar, but if you need it now and they don’t sell that brand, look for any sauce that says “Mild Buffalo.” Look for Dave’s Insanity Sauce if you want to spice it up a bit.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

On a day when Buffalo wings are king, there may be no better dip in the world for the Super Bowl than the Frank’s Redhot Buffalo Chicken Dip. And no, I don’t work for them.

All you have to do is follow their recipe exactly, but make just one small adjustment if needed.

The recipe recommends using canned chicken which makes for smaller chucks of meat. If you want bigger chunks of chicken, you can cook regular chicken breasts as the packaging suggests and dice it up after cooking to the desired size.

Match the dip with a heavy-duty tortilla chip that is designed for dips and you could have the best dip in the history of Super Bowl parties.

Football Field Cake

This is one of the things on the list that may be out of your range of expertise. If you can’t make a cake and decorate it to look like a football field, head to the local bakery, either mom-and-pop bakery or a chain grocery store’s bakery, and they will have one there or be able to make one.

With most cake makers being talented enough to alter the cake as you like, take an existing football field cake and have them add fun things to it. Maybe little football players all over the field or a message about the team you hope loses.

Not only will the cake be an excellent desert that can feed plenty of people, it is an amazing centerpiece that can really turn an ordinary food spread into something that people will remember. Either that or get a chocolate fountain.
