The Great One may be returning to television earlier than widely and knowingly advertised.
On a cutaway commercial on this week's monumental episode of Monday Night Raw, Josh Matthews informed us out here in Oregon that "On Monday, February 27th, The Rock, the Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment, will finally come back to the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon!"
The commercial was short and sweet and all I needed to hear to get excited for the end of the month! I'll be at the Eugene, Oregon house show the night before—with my fingers crossed that there's a test run in the works with good ol' Dwayne Johnson. Then again, his schedule will obviously be too packed for that, I'm sure.
This promo is interesting because previous reports have halted any such rumors of The Rock returning to airwaves, other than via Satellite. And if this deems true, just a week after Elimination Chamber, this could very well mark the beginning of the Road to WrestleMania feud between Rocky and John Cena.
This is what not only the show needs, but it's what this rivalry needs.
Once Cena/Kane have squandered their meaningless "Embrace the Hate" program, I expect Cena to be in full-on "Embrace the Strudel" mode.
There are many things at play that need to go right to make this return meaningful. Rock's schedule needs to clear up a little so fans don't feel cheated by him making this match and putting little to no effort behind promoting it—beyond Twitter.
Hopefully this pans out better than expected.
